Good work.
From a Phoenix perspective, Cunningham only being a RFA makes me feel better as I was thinking she was completely unrestricted again. Makes retaining her a little bit easier if needed.
That is an interesting RFA list overall, makes me wonder how many will get signed to big offer sheets from other teams.

i would like to see Lynx go after someone like Azura Stevens and then Elizabeth Williams.
collier and stevens are close and this would definitely give the Lynx a different look and Williams could be the defensive anchor

I wonder is Liz Cambage finish with the WNBA or would she take a mid-range contract with incentives.

Thinking about the Tiffany Hayes situation, figuring out days of withheld services is going to be difficult now that years of service actually matter for prioritization reasons. As someone hoping to do an official tracker, this is going to be more work than I thought. I hope the league has all of their numbers correct if they are going to be enforcing those penalties. |

As someone else who has to parse a lot of this nonsense, years of service are a pain in the ass. It would be so easy if everyone who played at least a single second during the season got one, and everyone else didn't. But, for example, Kia Nurse will get one this year while Maya Caldwell won't, as far as I understand the rules. It's dumb. And it means you can't just look at a player's career stats and assume that you can add up their years of service. |

Would you please explain why Maya Caldwell won't get a year a service?

So Maya Caldwell is a UFA because she's been waived before? Kinda confused when it comes to that.

If the only kind of contracts you sign during the year are 7-day deal and/or 'replacement contracts' (i.e. hardships), you don't get a year of service. Caldwell did eventually sign a 'Rest of Season' contract but even that was via a hardship exception that Atlanta were granted, so I don't believe she'll get a year of service (although the league have occasionally granted them where I didn't think they should under their own rules).
The UFA thing is a connected rule. If you end the season only on a hardship contract, that spot has only been created as kind of an 'extra' roster spot due to injuries, absences, or whatever. So the teams don't get to keep any rights to those players. It's why Emma Cannon was a UFA this year even though she finished last season on the Fever, for example (something the league screwed up, initially). So Caldwell, Sims, LAllen, KDavis, KCharles and probably some others I'm forgetting will be unrestricted free agents in 2023.
Hope that made sense. |

pilight, you can email it to me, but do you still have the 2002 CBA sitting around? I am still trying to create a methodology for counting years of service that will not annoy me greatly between now and training camp.

Were there any special years of service rules in effect during 2020 or can I assume that the rules for any other season were in force?
There seem to be a lot of mentions of Marine Johannes being affected by Prioritization, but she only has one year of service from this season, right? I am assuming that she still counts as withholding service in 2019 even though they did not suspend her until right before the season since there was no incentive to do it earlier for a rookie scale contract. If that's the case, she can finesse her way around it for several more seasons, especially if the clause changes after the 2025 season, if she wants. |

While I agree that Johannes's 2019 season would appear to fall under that 21-days of withholding service clause, the only list I have appears to credit her with 1 year before this season. Maybe that was viewed as an agreed absence and therefore not technically withholding? EuroBasket was in that period she missed. So anyway, my best guess would be that she'll officially have two after this year, but I wouldn't bet the house on it either way. |

The thing that doesn't show up on this creaky old board is an =. The βοΈ probably refers to Stewart herself, as she is a Virgo. My guess is the whole right side of the equation is Stewart and the left side are the various factors she's considering in Free Agency.

She plans to form a superteam while flying as far away from home as possible with Alanna Smith by plugging in with the Hobart Chargers among the wild animals to build enough of a presence for them to get a WNBL expansion team? |

I decided to put this here as I guess it relates to free agency
I have seen a couple comments in the last two days that not only is it possible that Stewart wants to go to NY but maybe Sloot does as well?
We all knew about Stewart but is there any evidence that Sloot actually wants to come to NY?
Has Sloot, Stewart and J. Jones played together on the same over seas team in the past?
(Even as a NY fan I would think Jones, Stewart and Sloot all coming to NY is a little much).

That team is insane (Sloot, Stewart, Griner, Meesseman, Jones, Turrens, Quigley) I assume they won everything.
