Players like Carter need a former NBA player as coach. Laimbeer had to deal with Rodman etc. I doubt he would be phased by Carter.

She had one. Doesn't seem to have worked.

I like many other Mystics Fans want to thank the Atlanta Dream, Liz Cambage and LA Sparks for the now Mystics 2023 WNBA Lottery Selection. I'm sure Natasha Cloud will be available for the WNBA Draft Lottery Show in December. What a stroke of genius by Mike Thibault.

You still have to make a selection that is credible and that matches your team needs and game philosophy. Many teams blow their high end draft picks by selecting players who are inconsistent with who they need or can maximally utilize within their playing philosophy.

Mike Thibault did select the player (Shakira Austin) he wanted for his system in the 2022 WNBA Draft, I'm quite sure Mike Thibault will do it again with his 2023 WNBA Lottery Pick

Trading a first rd pk for a high-end talent (Carter) and not starting them = Stupid.
Connecticut is quietly peaking at the right time of the season.

Mike T rarely makes bad draft picks. Most common, if you check results of picks that appear questionable, you won't find a player who was available who plays better than the player he picked.
Rhyne Howard is a great talent but bad fit for the Mystics. If he'd stuck with the #1 and picked Howard, neither Howard nor the Mystics would have had the seasons they've had. Flipping to get Shakira plus Christyn Williams was another Mike T genius draft move. Unfortunately due to Williams' injury, we were not able to see how she could fit into this team and possibly helped them win one or two close games. Mostly she would have helped on defense and saved Tasha's legs when she had to slide over to give Alysha Clark a breather.
Examples of Mike T "questionable" picks that are genius level:
High pick of Ariel Atkins
Tasha Cloud in 2nd round
Emma Meesseman in 2nd round
Kahleah Copper (traded to Chicago to get EDD)
Pick swap to get Shakira Austin + Chrystin Williams instead of Rhyne Howard
Not signing Toliver to a 3 year contract
You also don't see Mike T biting on talented but underachieving available players like Liz or Chennedy. He won't bite on Skylar either. Mike T is one of those coaches who seriously considers the entire person he's picking and chooses people/players who fit into the team culture (Tina Charles excepted).
Mike T will take the best player available with the pick he's got or trade the pick to acquire a player who fits better. That's what he'd done and that's what he'll do. And then he'll actually play the players he picks. Most teams would be better off with Mike T rather than whoever they've got making the GM choices.

The jury is still out on this one. Williams didn't make the roster and Howard is ROY.
The EDD trade looks at least as good for Chicago as it was for Washington.
He's had his share of actual misses (Tayler Hill, Ally Mallott, Kiara Leslie, etc.)

... And then he'll choke in the playoffs, every single year, unless Breanna Stewart blows out her Achilles.

I guess the GM and the interim head coach weren’t on the same page.
How about the PHX GM trading their 2023 first round pick for a player that does nothing but hurts her team’s chances of winning through dumb plays?

Didn't Fred state he was going to play Chennedy? And then he failed to offer her any minutes? Did she say or do something to piss him off (presumably) again?

I must have glanced at the wrong Sparks-Sun boxscore.
