Oh, no Katie Lou Samuelson. She must still be recovering from the ankle injury. |

USA lead at the quarter, half and three quarters, but couldn't finish.
USA will face France on Sunday, so I'm hoping that France was pumped up playing at home, and won't have that edge Sunday, plus the USA may have Katie Lou.

Joyner Holmes and Asia Durr made the All-Tournament team.
For the three game series, Holmes led the USA in rebounding and was second in scoring. Is she the best 6-3 soph power forward in high school since Chiney Ogwumike? |

I can't believe that Cox went 1/12 and Ogunbowale went 3/11. That won't happen next game!

France won all three games and got only one player on the All-Tournament team?

Very team-oriented? Very balanced? Curious.

Could be. In the final game, four layers scored in double digits, but close to each other, 13,12,11, and 10. The All-Tournament player had the 10 points, and wasn't a starter, although played third most minutes. No one played more than 26 minutes, which fits in with the balanced suggestions. All had double-digit minutes except one player with 9. Which is what you should be doing in an exhibition. USA had three players with single digit minutes and one with zero, not counting Katie Lou. Three starters with 30 or more and one with 29. Hints that winning the game was more important than using it as an exhibition. Kudos to the French team.

USA beat Mali, not much of a surprise. 78-22. Durr was the leading scorer with 15. Boykin leading rebounder with 13.

Best lineup, IMO, after five games, which also happen to be the five best scorers.
Joyner Holmes. Athletic power forward. Best FG%.
Kristine Anigwe. Strong C-PF. Second best FG%. Best at drawing FTA's.
Asia Durr. All-around good combo guard.
Arike Ogunbowale. All-around good SG. Second best 3pt shooter.
Katie Lou Samuelson. Best 3pt shooter. Very good inside, when she goes there.

Great pic of Lou. I can see why you saved it for last!
I knew that Lou, Durr, Arike, and Cox were good, but Holmes has really surprised me. I can see why she is so highly regarded. Hard to believe she is class of 2016. Cox has had a disappointing tournament, but she was great last year for USA Basketball.

Cox is leading the team in rebounds but is shooting only 33% from the floor. That's completely unacceptable for a center, especially against such weak competition.
Mulkey really shows nothing but height.
Holmes has power, speed and athleticism. I like her a lot. Anigwe is almost as good, and even better at powering up in a crowd to draw FTA's. |

Cox leading the team in rebounding and blocks shows me a kid who continues to give all on the defensive end of the court despite the poor offensive showing. Shows me a lot.

Cox has been the best defensive post for the US. On offense se tries a lot of a mid range turn around and it just not falling for her.

Semifinal today at 2:15 EDT, USA vs. Hungary.
I can't find a YouTube link. It may be on ESPNU, which I don't get.
It is on FIBA livetv. There is a $1 trial membership fee good until October, after which you need to cancel or it goes automatically to $10 a month.
