Alyssa Thomas was ejected from a flagrant foul 2 on Reese. But since her ejection the Sky has been unable pull away. Bonner and Jones getting it done for the Sun and they are up 4 with the ball and 3:43 left. Carrington, a #20 pick, is a defensive menace. Athleticism should probably be the #1 criteria for later picks. Or the only criteria.

There will be menes and quotes repeated incessantly fir the next week from this game. Reese is gonna be the most quoted. A couple of examples: a reporter tried doubling down about Reese's shooting word in the second half. She side-eyed her and cooly said '"next question". They asked her about her takedown by AT. "Y'all know they're not supposed to be nice to me..." Memes about her takedown by Alyssa Thomas wolill abound..

What Reese actually said was that it wasn't personal - the takedown wasn't about her being a rookie or about her being Angel Reese. She expects opponents to go at her like they go at any other player.

Angel Reese is taken down on hard foul by Connecticut's Alyssa Thomas before Chicago rookie surprisingly thanks the Sun star for 'sending a message'

Social media has, of course, been perfectly normal about the whole thing, which is why DeWanna Bonner had to take to Twitter to ask people to stop implying that there are domestic violence issues in her relationship. (It didn't work.)

Funny how much more concerned people are about domestic violence when the couple is two women.

Does a Flagrant 2 come with an automatic fine and if there's another Flagrant 2 in the same season they get suspended?

Found this on The Athletic:

"A player at 3 points who commits a Flagrant 2 foul receives an automatic one-game suspension
A player at 4 or 5 points who commits a Flagrant 1 foul receives an automatic one-game suspension
A player at 4 or 5 points who commits a Flagrant 2 foul receives an automatic two-game suspension
A player at 6 or more points who commits a Flagrant 1 or 2 foul receives an automatic two-game suspension".

But it doesn't explain points. Is it 1 point per technical? 1 per Flagrant 1? 2 per Flagrant 2? Still trying to understand.

Technical fouls are a separate category. Seven techs earn a one game suspension, with an additional game for each two techs beyond that.

Thanks for the clarification! Somehow I thought they got added together at one point.
