Trump fires intelligence community watchdog who defied him on whistleblower complaint
https://www.politico.com/amp/news/2020/04/03/trump-fires-intelligence-community-inspector-general-164287
Quote: |
“In the midst of a national emergency, it is unconscionable that the president is once again attempting to undermine the integrity of the intelligence community by firing yet another intelligence official simply for doing his job,” Warner said in a statement.
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) described the firing as “retribution” coming in the “dead of night” and called it “yet another blatant attempt by the president to gut the independence of the intelligence community and retaliate against those who dare to expose presidential wrongdoing.”

Why is this level of abuse of power even allowed? |
Because Republicans.

Trump owes tens of millions to the Bank of China — and the loan is due soon
https://www.politico.com/news/2020/04/24/trump-biden-china-debt-205475
Quote: |
Donald Trump is warning “China will own the United States” if Joe Biden is elected president.
But Trump himself is tens of millions of dollars in debt to China: In 2012, his real estate partner refinanced one of Trump’s most prized New York buildings for almost $1 billion. The debt includes $211 million from the state-owned Bank of China — its first loan of this kind in the U.S. — which matures in the middle of what could be Trump’s second term, financial records show.

Dems request that Trump testify under oath at impeachment trial!
Quote: |
Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., a former constitutional law professor leading Democrats' case, wrote in a letter to Trump his response to the article of impeachment had "denied many factual allegations," and therefore Democrats requested Trump testify as early as next Monday and no later than next Thursday.
"If you decline this invitation, we reserve any and all rights, including the right to establish at trial that your refusal to testify supports a strong adverse inference regarding your actions (and inaction) on January 6, 2021," Raskin wrote. |

Trump under oath would put him in a very precarious position.

Trump wanted to testify at his first impeachment trial. His lawyer disagreed but allowed Trump to take questions from him that he could expect to get. He ended up cutting the exercise short and telling Trump he wouldn't let him testify and there was some quote of him telling Trump what I remember as "you're damaged". Maybe that is a term lawyers will typically use with regard to clients testifying. Maybe not.

The senate won't convict him. It doesn't matter if he testifies. It doesn't matter what evidence is presented. They will never get 17 Republican senators to vote for conviction.

For those of you who remember (as well as those of you who refuse to), President Trump was impeached for "high crimes and misdemeanors," claiming "abuse of power" for allegedly colluding with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for personal benefit, and exonerated because the charges simply were not true. Of course, a partisan house voted to impeach for political purposes anyways.
No need to revisit the details IMO, but fast forward to today.
Biden has committed the very offense that the Democrats falsely charged President Trump with. He asked the Saudis to keep the oil prices down for an extra month SPECIFICALLY to benefit himself in the midterm elections. Of course they refused due to his idiotic comments during negotiations regarding the kingdom's handling of a WaPo columnist who also happened to be a Saudi citizen. Now that the deal has gone bad, he is threatening the country, a U.S. ALLY.
Forget what you think about Saudi Arabia. They are not really our friends, that's for sure. But an ally nonetheless. Joe Biden is threatening a country with "consequences" (his words) for not giving him something that ONLY benefits him. Explain to me how this is different from the offense charged to Donald J. Trump, other than the fact that one guy is innocent of the charges (Trump) and the other is clearly guilty (Biden).

Well, you asked. The CONTORTIONS you people go through to equate the evilness of Trumphole to any Democrat I've ever heard of is absurd.
For starters, here's a fine specimen of GOP quality that disagrees with you on the "innocent of the charges" bit.
Quote: |
'Out of 100 senators, zero believe you on the argument there is no quid pro quo,' Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) told Donald Trump's impeachment lawyers. |
How is Biden's tactic different??
1. Biden's strategy/tactic/whatever was all out in the OPEN: his communications weren't secretive, nor did he sack the American ambassador that got in his way, and NOTHING Joe did prompted any people (like those who KNEW and witnessed what Trumphole did) to blow any whistles on him, as they deservedly did on Trumphole. What Joe did might be more akin to #45 telling NATO allies that, if they didn't cough up more $$, America might not 'be there' for them in a crisis. Not extortion, but an 'either-or' directive. Not illegal.
2. Trumphole took it upon himself to withhold aid $$ to the Ukraine (that had already been allocated and approved by Congress) to request fabrication of 'evidence' on Hunter Biden that could be used to smear a potential political opponent. His methods were clandestine and underhanded and unethical....his Standard Operating Procedure.

Really? Because the White House didn't actually admit to that until October 13th, AFTER the Saudis made the accusation. Does that somehow make this a less impeachable offense?

Are you talking about the "whistleblower" who they wouldn't even subpoena during the impeachment hearings, or the guy who lied about not knowing who he was under oath? Both of them are liars who have no business at all in a government post.

No. Biden is threatening "consequences" without any clarity of what said consequences will be because the Saudis (as well as all other voting members of OPEC) refused to accept Biden's quid-pro-quo.

Wrong again. The aid was delayed for 90 minutes after the phone call to Zelenskyy. Trump DID ask for information on Hunter Biden. Also NOT illegal. He also did NOT get any information and the funds were still released. Zelenskyy wasn't even aware that the funds were delayed for 90 minutes because it was such a short amount of time. Meanwhile, the Saudis are blowing the whistle on Biden for doing the very thing the Democrats wanted to oust Trump for.

How DO you manage to concoct such pathetic defenses of your 'arguments'?? You GOTTA stop listening to Fox, OAN, Breitbart, Info Wars, Newsmax, etc.

You apparently didn't do your homework. This info was released on July 15. There was no problem at this time. The pushback from Biden came later, as the Saudis *changed their mind*.

Dead wrong. Again. Any consequences directed their way are DESERVED. Check that statement release I posted above:
Quote: |
New Cooperation on Energy Security: Saudi Arabia has committed to support global oil market balancing for sustained economic growth. The United States has welcomed the increase in production levels 50 percent above what was planned for July and August. These steps and further steps that we anticipate over the coming weeks have and will help stabilize markets considerably. |
The MotherFukkers reneged on their summer agreement. They have now DECREASED their oil production to MAKE MORE $$$ during this global crisis, initiated by Russia. Biden is doing what any normal, rational, competent president should do: Calling them out on it, and promising consequences for broken agreements. This is precisely how national-level leadership should operate IN THE BEST INTEREST OF ITS CITIZENS.

Nice try at conflating 2 very different things, but no....that's NOT who I'm talking about. I'm talking about witnesses like ambassador Yavonovitch, Kurt Volker, Fiona Hill or Alex Vindman. Quality people. After sucking up to Trumphole all this time, you're the LAST person that oughtta hold up "lying" as a fault.

Anddd....wronger again. I don't care if it was 90 seconds for the delay: the point is that Trumphole used that as leverage, and trust me, it could have gone on for 90 DAYS or WEEKS, if someone near him with more than 8 brain cells hadn't explained to him that it was NOT kosher, and call off the request.
And now you trust the Saudi "whistleblowers" more than the one who nailed Trumphole?
These are prime examples of all the convolutions and distortions that people go to in Trumphole's defense....as if he really matters any more. I just hope you've given him lots of your $$$. You both deserve that.

No point in responding to the rest of your nonsense so I'll touch on this part:
First of all, the whistleblower was Eric Ciaramella. That's who I was talking about. As far as the guy who lied about not knowing who he was, that's Vindman. How could you not know that? Get a clue FFS.
Second, these "witnesses" (who witnessed NOTHING) that you are trying to conflate with the whistleblower did absolutely nothing at all to advance the narrative that Trump stopped aid to Ukraine until he got dirt on Joe Biden (which he didn't). In fact, the only thing they did was deliver fanservice to brainwashed sycophants to the party such as yourself. That's why the entire impeachment proceedings went absolutely NOWHERE beyond party lines.
Third, no matter how many times you want to claim that things happened differently, they didn't. The Democrats advanced an impeachment narrative on shaky grounds at best and you bought it. Because let's face it, you will believe ANYTHING you are told so long as it comes from the mouth of a Democrat. And you will never question it, at all. So everyone knows that. That's why you think that everyone who disagrees with you gets their information from Fox News and Alex Jones. Since YOU are completely indoctrinated by your spin doctors, in your mind, everyone else must be too, right.
Last of all, just because you think that what Biden is doing is OK in spite of the fact that the Democrat House impeached Trump over far less, simply because he's saying the quiet parts out loud, doesn't mean HE shouldn't be impeached for his reckless behavior. Don't think for a second that all of the normal people out there who are capable of forming their own decisions haven't noticed. In fact, I hope the next two years are nothing but an endless string of impeachment proceedings until he is finally removed from office or voted out. He certainly deserves it.

How so?
By deflecting, you seem to be implying that you're OK with Biden doing the very things they accused Trump of doing. Is that the case?

You guys are arguing about old news. Biden's latest election stunt is the release of 15M barrels of oil from the strategic reserve to "bring gas prices down." Never mind that that is less oil than the US uses in a single day and the release is spread over 30 days, or that the reserve is already at it's lowest point in decades, or that the rise in energy costs is largely due to past decisions by the White House and Congress to spend money we don't have. And he further announced that he's waiting for the price of oil to fall to $70/barrel to replenish the reserve, which is just another slap in the face to the Saudis.
This is a blatant pathetic attempt to make the Democratic Party look better before the elections by grabbing headlines. Oil prices were already falling anyway, and Biden's latest greatest plan is unlikely to make any difference.

I disagree with the notion that it's "unlikely to make any difference" because in the long run it's going to contribute to the supply shortage. That will inevitably lead to another price increase since the production cuts were made at OPEC due to the shortage of demand.
The decision to take more oil from the strategic petroleum reserves is just another move aimed at shoring up midterm votes while in the long term increasing our dependency on Russia, Venezuela and Iran.

A. Ohh, YOU know this cuz you talked to Eric? Orrr....just bought into Rand Paul's (therefore OAN's, Fox's, etc.) illegal tactic of revealing a whistleblower's name. (who ever confirmed that) Anddd....FFS!....WHO GIVES A RAT'S ASS ABOUT THE WHISTLEBLOWER NOW? Other than having his rights violated, it's over. Who cares? B. Even YOU aren't stupid enough to realize you CANNOT refute my basic principles, which is why we get the 'no point in responding' cop-out from you. For more past examples, howz comes you ignored the fact that Ted Cruz admitted publically that 100 senators KNEW Trump committed the quid-pro-quo. Or that Hunter Biden was NOT indicted on the date you said - total crickets, cuz that's all ya got. You totally ignore that and so many others, but continue to obfuscate with your pervasive mist of bullshit. My newsource is PBS newshour - don't think you could handle it, just like you never watched "The Brainwashing of My Dad (and Rebkellians)"

Blatant? Certainly. (can you name any 'blatant' political tactic that is at least more beneficial?) Pathetic? No. Everybody, Dems and Repugs alike will suck that gas right up and without so much as a "Thank you".
