With both EDD and probably Clark under 'load management', it sure looks like they need a guard with size. I think Jaz would be too wild for Mike T. K. Charles is more likely and maybe they were hoping Onyenwere or Willoughby would become available. As I said previously, re-signing Wiese would also make sense.

I agree that a claim for Charles might make some sense. Although my primary target would probably be whoever isn't going to make the cut in Minnesota, assuming one of Rennia Davis or Bridget Carleton is gone.

Yeah I could see either of those (definitely Carleton

I know Mike T isn't the biggest fan of rookies but I could still see him finding a role for Westbrook if she became available as well

Per Kareem Copeland Washington Post:

Mystics have waived Stephanie Mavunga and Linnae Harper. Katie Benzan still here.

Decisions still to be made. Thibault said if Alysha Clark is out more than the weekend they could apply for a hardship. If so, more likely a post player.

Why would they carry 6 posts and 5 perimeter players? Based on who Thubalut played where during the preseason, there is nothing to suggest that he is planning on playing EDD or MHA at the 3.

Check out the Mystics twitter, they're practically marketing Rui Machida in Japan, I wouldn't be surprise she starts a few games for the Mystics with Cloud playing SF.

They'd best wait until Machida is up to speed on the plays. That takes a minute - and maybe two minutes if you don't speak the language. I realize Tash is needed at SF until Clark is cleared to play.

For Rui Machida fans out there Coach confirms she has memorized the whole playbook and speaks it in English.

The roster as is will be the final one turned in at 5 p.m. That will be 11 players. The team is expected to apply for a hardship to add a player, though, with Elizabeth Williams and Alysha Clark expected to miss a couple games.

Might be another Lady Terp coming home.

Per Kareem Copeland Washington Post:

The Mystics will receive a hardship roster spot as they’re down to 9 players with Elizabeth Williams and Alysha Clark out to start the season.

Stephanie Jones was in the building this morning. She still has to clear waivers this afternoon, but is expected to do so.

Update:

Stephanie Jones cleared waivers and is signed as the hardship player and eligible to play tonight.

Per Kareem Copeland Washington Post:

The Mystics have gotten Kennedy Burke on waivers. But that means Katie Benzan gets waived. Burke just finished her season in Spain and won’t be available for about a week, though.

https://twitter.com/kareemcopeland/status/1522690814329208833

Benzan is hoped to be resigned after 48 hours when they apply for another hardship for Burke. If she clears waivers without being picked up

Thibault hopes Alysha Clark (foot) to be available Friday. Kennedy Burke is scheduled to arrive in DC a week from Monday and will travel to Dallas. Elizabeth Williams just depends on how far her team advances in the postseason.

the announcers at the last game said Hawkins wouldn't be going to Minnesota either. What's that about?

nvm: I see it in the game thread.

Not at all thrilled with the lineup without Tasha on the court. Rui Machida hasn't shown much. But we'll have EDD and THawk back on the floor, so that's a plus. Ariel Atkins will have her hands full defending the Aces' backcourt.

Per Kareem Copeland Washington Post:

Thibault said Natasha Cloud is feeling better but still has to test negative twice before she can return. And even after that will take a couple days to get back physically before playing in a game.

Mike Thibault explains if Alysha Clark is ready to go tomorrow (as expected) Stephanie Jones would have to be released since she was the first hardship signing before Katie Benzan. So Benzan is good for tomorrow.

It's looking good for Natasha returning this week. It's a good chance the Mystics will have Cloud, Williams and Burke but not EDD for the Atlanta Dream Game on Friday. Elena will play Tuesday in Dallas against the Wings then travel back home missing the Atlanta Dream.

Per Myles Ehrlich Winsidr:

https://twitter.com/MylesEhrlich/status/1526197678497214464

Cloud said she hasn't felt symptoms since Monday, and "that was a really, really rough day." She dealt with some congestion after that, but "it's good to be back, for real."

Coach Mike Thibault said, Shakira Austin was always going to be his pick; whether it was at 1 or 3, he was able to trade back and still get her.
