Are we allowed to question Dawn's rotations? I've got some concerns.

Collier not playing at all is a big wtf.

Maybe media members needs to ask what's going on with her, like they did for Sky. SOMEBODY out there needs a breather... she can't give someone a spell? This is puzzling.

Lucky lucky break on what I thought should have been a shot clock violation turned 3 pointer.

The decision to purposely not play BG in the 4th kills me.

Minute distribution has been interesting to say the least. Seems like Bird Stewart and Wilson are always on the court.

They like putting 30+ min plus games on Stewie's legs with ALL of that talent on the team.

Stewart is an outstanding player, no question. But do you really need to play her 35 minutes every game, for christ's sake.

No. And it's not like she's been completely lights out.

Laughing

I hope the Storm 3 and Wilson can sleep for like a week after the games are over. The distribution of minutes is just bizarre.

Lucky for Dawn that France is not making shots.

Look how a player shines when you don't only focus on Aja.

I hate that I am saying this but our pg options make the US kind of boring to watch.

I like what Bird brings in terms of leadership but when she's playing the entire game I don't see the US going on huge scoring runs because she isn't an option herself.

Just pretty meh thus far.

Some of the contact these international refs have allowed is just... a lot.

I kinda wish the USA had poured on the gas at the end to get the margin > 14.

For all the supposed talk about the rest of the world "catching up" to the United States, the single-biggest advantage that USAB has over the rest of the world is depth: the ability to go twelve deep, and overwhelm the opposition with a relentless attack, by being able to keep five fresh All-Stars on the court, at all times. Staley is wasting her biggest asset, by basically only playing nine.

This.

Stewart with 38 minutes?! Atkins, Collier, Diggins, Taurasi and Gray combined for 32.

I wonder if Staley is thinking playing Bird, Stewart, and Loyd so much gives her instant chemistry since they've played together for years.

The sheer talent of the roster 12 deep >>>> any slight advantage that would give IMO.

Storm front office flying out to Tokyo to personally ask why Stewie logged 38 mins. 😄

Also, nothing against Loyd, but I would like to see SDS get some of her 24 minutes.

Rotations are less than stellar, and the offense looks so stagnant…playing like we don’t have the weapons we do.

It’s insane that no one can spell Stewart at the 3 off the bench?

Charles played well in this game so i liked when they played her at the 5 in the 4th quarter. Her and Fowles just doesnt work. It clogges up the lane too much and Gray has not enough room to drive as a result.

But Stewie playing so many minutes is just insane. There are so many options. Play DT at the 3 or Atkins. Heck.. go small with Loyd or Gray at the 3. Or FFS just play Collier. She is an actual SF and a pretty damn good one Shocked

This was a meaningless game for the USA. I know that there is a long Olympic win streak at stake (no medal there), but I agree it is nuts to play Stew 38 minutes. Using Bird for 25+ when there are 3 knockout games in next 7 days also leaves me quizzical. The problem now is that the die is cast. Unless these upcoming games are not close, an awful lot of minutes is going to get piled on a few legs, two of which are nearing 41 years old. I guess the hope for USA is their 5 front line players are by far the best in Tokyo. We may see more halves, where of the 50 points scored, only 6 came from the backcourt.....Gonna be pound it baby.

this is at least giving phee some really good rest for the second half of the W.
its annoying, it would be one thing to NOT play phee, atkins, diggins if USA was just flawless with the first 9, but they're not - there are no blowouts yet.
or it would be one thing if these 'bottom' 3 weren't playing good, but they just aren't getting to play period.

Big 3s by TC and usual A+ game from AW headline this one, imo, along with Stewart's 2nd quarter. Good to see the old fart backcourt shoot 3-5, all 3s, and have a 6-3 A/T line.

Why no AA???

Does Dawn have money on the Sun in the CC? Use those Storm legs up baby.

For Team USA sake I hope they will replace Staley for the next Olympic cycle. Her substitution patterns and offensive/defensive schemes suggest she is more focused on trying not to lose as opposed to winning games.

Possible replacements
Reeve
Thibault
Hughes
Mulkey
McGraw?
