T Young would be a good addition to the Suns to shore up their bench. I could see her back in Atlanta as well. Depending on cap space....

That was Banham’s mindset.
TYoung is in the Bentley boat. She’ll go where she can get a job.

Agreed with myrtle on this one. T. Young came up big a few times for the aces in the playoffs. I think she gets a job before Bentley. Her defensive skills cannot be ignored.

The offers could be "hey if you want to come to training camp, that's fine with us....."

I wouldn't mind if Young stopped by the Fever for a year or two. Her toughness and defensive mindset could help the youngsters in that direction.

The 'offers' could also be "Hey Mo, tell everyone that I've got loads of offers coming in so that some of these teams remember I exist." |

That's a weird one. Was she expecting them to wine and dine her or something? Did they offer more money than LA but still sub-max and she took that as an insult? She was a free agent who's been with the franchise for 14 years. They were offering her more money than her play is probably worth at this point. And she's certainly aware of what kind of person Cheryl Reeve is by now and seems to have got along fine with it for a decade.
By all means make your own decisions and go to LA if that's what you want, but that's a strange parting shot. |

Maybe the Lynx first offer was a low ball number, which LA beat. Damage done, so even a bigger offer didn't placate her.

I don't know why the Lynx would need to "lowball" her, especially if she's only playing for one year/one year at a time? Though I could see the Lynx waiting to see if they were going to land any of the big FAs first before coming up with a precise amount to offer.

Since we still have to speculate with neither Reeve or Augustus totally coming clean about the situation, I’m going to guess Reeve wanted both Augustus and DRob to wait around to see how free agency shook out for the Lynx until they could define their roles and corresponding salaries for those roles. In other words, the Lynx were looking for better options as starters. If they didn’t want to wait around to see how things shook out, then so be it. They were free to test the market. That’s what they did, and they were both able to find jobs in free agency. Again, my speculation, but it makes more sense than anything I’ve heard so far.

Even if it's the most sensible theory, the idea of leaving a team over being so distraught over a chance you might not start, to take less money to be 100% guaranteed not to start still seems kind of funny to me.

My WAG is that it's probably closer to the former than the latter. I don't think that Augustus necessarily expected to be "wined and dined," but it seems probable to me that she felt like the organization was taking her for granted, in some way.

All other factors being equal, most people want to be wanted. Even if the Sparks were explicit about her not starting, they pretty clearly seemed to communicate that they wanted her there, and they thought she could help them win. Whereas, reading between the lines in Minnesota, @Shades' theory does indeed seem the most likely, and that the Lynx were leaving her hanging, to see whether or not they could get somebody better. For a player who has been to a franchise what Augustus has been to the Lynx, I think that she'd be in the right to be offended.

I doubt DRob was distraught about not starting. She was already used to it with the Lynx. For her it was a just a matter of finding a job, and it worked out very well for her. Probably a better contract than she would have gotten with the Lynx, with more of a contending team (at least for this year).
For Augustus, she was probably getting up in her feelings because of how long she’s been with the Lynx. With this new CBA being a factor along with her decline in performance/health, this was probably the first time in 14 years that Augustus saw the business realty side of the Lynx over the “we are a family” Lynx.

I am by no means addressing this comment to you specifically, however, I do find it interesting to hear this when it happens to Minnesota, but when it's Dallas, EVERYBODY rips the organization a new one and instantly sides with whichever player it is who happens to be butt hurt over some shit or in their damn feelings about not getting their ass kissed at any given moment and demands a trade!
Oh well, maybe it's just me😒
