Gotta love when several of the biggest games of your entire season are used to fill up schedules when they know 90% of US sports fans are watching NFL games on other channels.

Can someone remind me, are the semifinals and finals both 2-2-1 in terms of who hosts?

Since Washington and Connecticut have locked in the top two seeds and byes to the semifinals, we're looking at a 10 pm semifinal game for one of those two on Thursday, September 19, no?

In 2016 they had Indiana and Atlanta scheduled to host playoff games at 8:00 and 10:00 on the same day. The league was able to move them to 6:00 and 8:00. There was real concern that scheduling a game in Atlanta at 10:00 on a school night might have resulted in the players outnumbering the fans.

They can't put on Friday or Saturday when ESPN programming is filled with college football games and other sports like soccer.

I was surprised that not one playoff game is on CBS Sports Network. Does give them options in the future to have games on Fridays and Saturdays.

With Washington & Connecticut locked in as the top two seeds, one of them will get the 10pm EST start time for game 2. I wonder if the league/ESPN can move the times to 7pm/9pm?

I think that's likely... last year ESPN released the schedule for Round 2 and it originally had start times of 8PM and 10PM and then it was changed. The two teams playing in that round were Washington and Connecticut as well.

Any thoughts on the times for Round One if the two hosts are Seattle and Las Vegas (4PM and 6PM local on a weeknight ) ?

Another concern are the second round games, likely two west teams(Los Angeles and Las Vegas). Which team gets screwed with the 10am start time on a Sunday?

I was gonna say they surely can't do that and the games would be moved at least an hour, but if your list above is right then that's the only game before the Finals scheduled for ESPN rather than ESPN2. Which probably makes it less flexible, and is probably a slot they wouldn't want to lose. So I guess the league is hoping Vegas screw up tomorrow and Washington rest everybody to help Chicago over the line, because then it's easy.

Unless there's flexibility they're not telling us about, you'd like to see a bit more thought put into these time-slots. Since they essentially removed conferences this has been a problem that always has the potential to crop up. If you're constantly going to play the games as double-headers, any round with both hosts from the same side of the country is going to create issues.

In terms of flexibility with TV schedules, the first-round games can get bumped up one hour. As for the second-round games and the possible scenario of two west coast teams hosting them, there's no give in the scheduling. The 1 pm game on ESPN has UFC right after & the 3 pm game on ESPN2 has the Spartan Race Championship after. So if it's necessary to move one, we might get a game on ESPNews at 5 pm (2 pm PST).

Arena conflicts are always an issue come playoffs. Surprisingly, only two teams have a possible conflict with a playoff date. If Vegas gets the #4 seed, their second-round game can't be played at Mandalay Bay. the only other potential conflict is if the Sparks advance to the Finals and are the higher seed. Game 5 of the Finals can't be played at Staples. Seattle's Alaska Airlines Arena, Phoenix's Talking Stick Arena, Minnesota's Target Center, Chicago's Wintrust Arena, Connecticut's Mohegan Sun Arena & Washington's Entertainment & Sports Arena have no conflicts with any playoff dates. There's been some speculation that if the Mystics advance to the Finals, their games will be at Capital One Arena. September 29, October 1 & 10 are all available at Capital One Arena.

What date(s) are a conflict at Target Center?

As far as I'm aware, they weren't going to be playing there until the Finals (if they made it that far). But it's all moot now, since we ain't winning 2 single elimination games.

I'm sure they're tweaking the schedule now, but we have:

FIRST ROUND
Wednesday, September 11
Time/ET GAME NET
7:00p Phoenix @ Chicago; ESPN2
9:00p Minnesota @ Seattle; ESPN2

SECOND ROUND
Sunday, September 15
Time/ET GAME NET
1:00p highest remaining seed @ Las Vegas; ESPN
3:00p lowest remaining seed @ Los Angeles; ESPN2

Don't be surprised if the times for both rounds are changed. Wednesday can be moved to 8pm/10pm. Sunday, depending on ESPN availability, should be changed. Las Vegas' game would start at 10am local time.

Spoke too soon. Wednesday's games will start an hour later. Sunday's 1pm ESPN game is now 5pm on ESPN2.

The Seattle playoff games will be played in Everett. STHs got an email a couple of weeks ago with the possible playoff schedule - going all the way through the finals. If they made it to the finals, the only games at Alaska Airlines Arena would be finals games 3-4, meaning that all prior rounds would be played at Everett.
