There is really no reason for McCowan to go out to the perimeter on defense. Hebard won't score from out there. Makes no sense. Leave the big girl lurking in the middle.

But I'm still not convinced McCowan is all that great. Big, yes. Maybe she can learn, but she will be a project at the next level.

Do you remember her as a frosh? She's made a quantum leap. More to come, imo.

true. she has improved a lot.

The best show tonight by far. Very Happy Very Happy

Graves gets the prize for the fish hook gesture. That will be a classic.

Evidently no one in the SEC plays zone D's either and evidently Miss St has no offensive plays against a zone.

Second time I have seen MSU struggle mightily in a zone this year. Just have to shade Bibby as nobody else really wants to take a three.

McCowan lost on these pick and rolls. Doubt anyone In the SEC will be able to utilize this.

It’s painful watching her continuously over-hedge and fail to get back into position. It’s also painful to watch her disappear on the offensive end.

You don't have to shoot over a zone. They ought to put McCowan at the high post and run the plays through her letting her pass to cutters.

MSU is definitely not great, but then almost every top team has flaws this year. And they are waaay better than I thought they would be. Howard is THE huge difference. Without her, they are very ordinary. And she is way improved from A&M so don't know if that is the new system or that she worked really hard over the Summer.

Yeah, they don't have enough scoring punch as it is, and without Howard they would really be impotent.

Oregon is just exposing McCowan's weaknesses in this game. McCowan looks gassed as well.

If Ionescu didn't suck shooting tonight, OR would be up 15+, instead of 6.

State might need to try a few possessions in a zone. Because they are getting exposed.

McCowan's done. Not even going for rebounds anymore. Sub here out already for a minute or two.

Oregon does the exact same inbound play. I'm surprised it's not stolen more often.

Coach Vic with no faith in McCowan as she continues to sit on the bench.

The calls they are giving OR are wow, talk about a lot of flailing and flopping.

MSSt misses VV.

Galumphing galoots like McCowan and Kalani Brown are generally not suited for high level basketball play or for stamina play.

hmmm. I saw a couple of flops, but also thought MissSt got away with a lot of hands on the ball handlers - little push here, grab there, swat or two. There were some bad'ish calls but they went both ways.

btw I thought Graves made a nice substitution when he put Gildon in to guard Howard. She definitely slowed her down, and grabbed some rebbies on the way.

Kudos to the duckettes for pulling this out. And for getting a very nice crowd for the game as well.

Very even game statistically. What sticks out are all the shooting fouls (many dopey) committed on Ionescu. MSST lost the game by 11 made free throws, and Ionescu made 17 of the Duck's 27. Meanwhile, she shot very poorly from the floor (5-18).

Yeah, it was a pretty even stat match....though somebody gyped OR: the box score said 0 blocks. I saw at least one block Sabally made.

Might just be me, but I didn't see the same defensive intensity out of MS State as I did when they played TX. I was really concerned that they'd suffocate OR , but....apparently not. By the same token, I thought Kelly had his team QUITE ready on defense.

Kudos to the Ducks....Well played! Cool
