I wonder how close Close is to a hot seat. Unless there's been an extension, her contract is up at the end of next season, the same season that would have seen the departure of her once #1 class. She's in the bottom tier of pay for Pac coaches, has proven herself to be an ace recruiter but is quite questionable everywhere else. There's belief that she's squandered her talent.

Going into tonight, UCLA has won 25 straight home games (which is the 2nd-longest current home winning streak in the nation), and UCLA has won 17 straight home games against conference foes (which is the longest such streak ever in UCLA WBB history, and by quite a bit).

Both of the above streaks would appear to be in dire jeopardy tonight, *especially* if Jordin Canada is wearing street clothes alongside Lajahna Drummer and Lindsey Corsaro and Ally Rosenblum. Even should Canada be available, though, the Bruins certainly have their hands full against the Huskies. Remember, the Bruins were pretty fortunate to beat Washington at home last season, having to rally from a 17-point deficit! But: rally, they did.

Very curious how tonight will shake out.

Go Bruins!

UCLA is underachieving again this season and until the win at Stanford, their road record against ranked teams was 0-15. I'd say that's a squandering of at least two top classes of talent. I am surprised when people feel compelled to defend Close with such a mediocre record, about .600 in both conference and overall. She is like Lavin and Olivier, in that she works hard, is popular but is underachieving with top talent.

ETA: Close is one of the few coaches in the Pac who's salary is paid completely with student funds.

sigh. I thought since they were 'on' last night, we might get two better ones for this game. Well, at least the game IS televised and for that I'm thankful.

Originally, Coach Close’s contract was paid from Intercollegiate Athletics department revenues; thus, Regents’ approval was not required. However, the campus recently learned that in 2012, the fund source was changed to Student Services Fee revenue, retroactive to the initial appointment date of Coach Close.

Are Canada and Plum having a contest to see who can register the least assists? Plum is always so competitive

Woo! Nice win for the Bruins. Burke was huge in the 4th quarter.

Washington wasn't quite their normal selves....they couldn't get an O board all night and allowed the Bruins to score a ton off of turnovers.

Final: UCLA 90-79
