Will play the 2017-2018 season.

Interesting move at a position of need for ND.

I'm pretty sure not one person here gave her a first or second thought for the WNBA draft.

I've seen her play. ND isn't getting much. I'm guessing she realizes she needs more college experience to grow her game to be WNBA ready? Well, she's got a lot of growing to do. Good luck to her though.

Guard is a position of need for Notre Dame? Seems like most of the team is guards.

It'll probably Thompson vs Patberg for the job.

Thompson had the most assists on her last season with Stanford, 3.5 apg

I think there is some expectation among ND fans that she'll play point next season given Patberg's limited playing time over the past 2 years.

I guess we should wait to hear from McGraw on what her role will be next season.

I second that. Lili is NOT a PG. I do think Muffet will demand more discipline from her than Tara was able to do. She is very talented but tends to not play 'team' ball. If she plays under control she can be very good. ND is deep enough that if she pulls that stuff, she will be sitting on the bench.

There seems to be some belief in South Bend that Thompson will play point guard. From the SBT article:

Notre Dame will swap veteran point guards in 2017.

Though senior Lindsay Allen departs this spring, former Stanford point guard Lili Thompson announced on Twitter on Thursday that she will join Notre Dame as a graduate transfer in the 2017-18 season.

Again, we'll have to wait and hear what Muffet's expectations are.

But wasn't that the reason she supposedly was not happy with her Stanford situation, that she was being asked to play more team ball and thought the ask was unfair and not good for her game? If she was not happy being a
Go To player at Stanford, will she be happy with a coach who demands more discipline from her (if that is what will happen) and less chance to play the hero?

She was at the game tonight. Sitting on the baseline. Looked like she was enjoying herself.

Meh. Is this a - we couldn't beat them so have them join us- type deal? Getting a promising freshman would be better.

Looks like they were banking on Patberg to be that player for them, so now McGraw is getting somewhat desperate. Gotta have a backup plan to avert total disaster.

ND doesn't have much of a recruiting class coming in next year. Their highest recruit at #30 is a 6'3 F. The next highest recruit at #90 is also a 6'3 F.

ND has two bigs that they wanted from the beginning coming in next year, and has commitments from two guards already for 2018.

Thompson will be a good one year filler.

BTW, recruiting rankings are all over the lot. ASGR ranks Patterson #5. Blue Star ranks Vaughn #15. Vaughn transferred to Paul VI (#1 ranked team in the country) for this her senior year and is leading the team in scoring.

Sorry to disappoint you, but ND is doing just fine.

As long as she brings some passion and fire to the team, I'm good with it.

She has something no other current ND player can claim..... a win over UConn.

From watching them this year, seems like she is the type of player they have recruited, more selfish, one on one players, Turner will get the Ball less than she does now.

This should turn out to be a great pick up for ND, and just what they seem to need.

Why did she quit on Tara?
