Marist down at the half to Auburn, 29-20. If they lose, they are 0-6. Such a fall from grace!

I guess they always start off poorly, due in part to a challenging OOC schedule.

Last season they started 0-7 and finished 16-16.

In the previous season (2014-15) they started 0-4 and finished 21-12.

In 2013-14, they started 0-3 and finished 27-7.

In 2012-13, they started 5-6 and finished 26-7.

And the pattern extends even further...

Auburn wins, 52-51. Marist trailed by 3 with 5 seconds left and hit a 2-point basket when they needed a 3.

Not always. But the last couple of years have been bad.

Only 249 people witnessed this game. Sad Part of that is that it was in Georgia, not Alabama or New York, but that's just sad.

Marist is bad enough this year that it makes you wonder just how bad this Auburn team is too. Guess we'll see when they meet their first real opponent tomorrow.

Yeesh. I wouldn't call Marist's OOC play "challenging", by most standards.

Yeah, I don't quite get what/where/when/why Giorgis' squads suddenly fell off in quality. I mean, he made The Best out of some average recruits, but what's up now? Anybody know more about that?

Maybe he had good assistant coaches that developed talent or drew up effective strategies, that moved on to other programs??

Marist had the surprising exodus of four players at the end of 14/15. Most of them would have been seniors this year. http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/story/sports/college/marist/2015/04/02/marist-women-lose-four-including-blais-transfer/70847264/
