No Jordan Canada, Kristine Anigwe, Lexie Brown or Shakayla Thomas?

I was trying to be fair to other conferences in regards to the PAC-12. I think that there are several excellent players in the PAC-12, including Sophie Brunner at ASU. There are only so many choices.

Canada and Anigwe were edged out by McCall, Weise, and Plum. I did consider putting Shakayla instead of Lindsay Allen. Lexi Brown is at the place where talent doesn't shine. These players you mentioned are very good, and perhaps they do deserve to be in a poll, but I went with my gut.

I could've also added Ariel Atkins or someone from Texas, but it's still unclear who their biggest contributor will be this year.

Shout out to the player who hit the game-winning bucket over Kelsey Mitchell in the Gophers win over Ohio St, Carlie Wagner.

There should only be 3 players on this list.

Mitchell
Turner
Wilson

Nina Davis has an outside chance. However, I'm surprised Kia Nurse wasn't included in the list. I think she has a chance to be a real star this year.

Add Walker-Kimbrough and Plum and I think you're 95% confident that you have the winner. In fact, those 5 would make a pretty good AA team.

Would normally have gone with Brianna Turner, but need to see how she comes back from the shoulder surgery first.

Based pff her olympic performance i think a star would be really stretching her potential. Shes very aggressive and tough but she is not a consistent offensive threat. Canada relied on her almost the entire tourney andnit was brick after brick after broke ijs

Barring injury, I just don't see any kid with a probable trajectory like Mitchell's. She got my vote.

Mitchell is currently the most dynamic player in women's college basketball. She got my vote.

I had to look up her stats:

14.0 ppg (led Zags)
5.8 rebounds
41.5% FG (for a forward)
33.3% 3FG
0.7 assists
0.5 block/game
1.3 steals
in only 22.5 minutes/game
only 10 starts (played in all 33 games)

was first team All WCC last season (as a redshirt freshman)

Probably not player of the year material yet, especially coming from a mid-major.

Mitchell and Turner are the only real contenders IMO, maybe Wilson.

Aja Wilson, Diamond Deshields, Kelsey Mitchell, but there are a few others that can emerge with some really good seasons to challenge. Also Kaela Davis.

Those are your top 4? DeShields and Davis would have to play much better than their most recent seasons for that to happen. Davis was not very effective for Georgia Tech two years ago and DeShields was disappointing for the Lady Vols last season. I agree that Mitchell and Wilson will be candidates.

Diamond DeShields Kaela Davis both are in the category of players who could be really, really, really good, but have fallen short due to perceived attitude issues.

If it's true that attitude is the issue, then a mental adjustment could result in one or both having truly spectacular seasons. But it also could be that maybe their undeniable physical abilities don't translate as well to the basketball court as many had hoped.

I certainly expect both be drafted in the first round, and both can certainly play in the WNBA, but both will need to have consistently good seasons to be worthy of a lottery pick.
