It's so sad, but I keep reminding myself that, in many ways, her passing released her and her family from the thrall of that terrible disease.
Still, too soon, much too soon.
Unlike others who had a lot of interaction with Summitt, I only met her once. It was at the 2001 Womens Final Four, the day after the Lady Vols lost in the semis. There was an exhibition between the US National Team and group of senior all-stars who werent in the Final Four. She was just walking into the gym where it was played with everyone else. She was kind and gracious to everyone who approached her, and she spent the entire game signing autographs when she probably wanted to watch it.
The image of her signing autographs patiently for everyone who came to her will always stick with me. She didn't need to go to that game, and probably didn't even really want to go, but there she was, and treating it like it was a privilege to be with the fans. Such a class act.

Rest in paradise Coach. You impacted more people around the world, then you could have ever imagined. My prayers to Tyler, your family, the UT family and all who loved you. Thank you for leading the way to making WBB what it is today.

64? Abject tragedy. Not fair. Sorry to all who knew and loved her._________________ Every woman who has ever been presented with a career/sex quid pro quo in the entertainment industry should come forward and simply say, “Me, too.” - jammer The New York Times 10/10/17 |

That image is exactly what I have witnessed as well. Man, I have no idea why, but this is really hitting me fairly hard.

Tony Kornheiser just referred to her on his radio show as "Babe Ruth." He went on to say that people broke Ruth's records, but he invented the home run, and that Pat Summitt was in the same category.
