Chantel Horvat, the Aussie 2017 who was all the rage of the Nutmeg State for a couple of weeks this summer, committed to UCLA over finalists Washington, Duke and Oregon State.

This may be helpful, it's just for the commits of kids out of the DMV area but it's in order and updated regularly. Since people are listed 2018 commits as 2017 anyway it sorts them out a little better.

Coach Dawn Staley and South Carolina netted ESPN 5* 6-2 Forward LaDazhia Williams today out of Lakewood Ranch HS (FL). She is added to the class of 5* Wing Elisia Grissett and 3* Guard Haley Troup.

LaDazhia chose USC out of a top 5 including Tennessee, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Florida State...

WOW. With an older sister having already completed the recruiting process and playing a D-1 program (OK), one would think she'd have been better advised than to choose a program like Duke.

Maybe an elite education matters to her.

I don't think anyone deserves criticism for choosing Duke. I don't care who the coach is.

I don't see a "criticism" anywhere in my post. I do make the observation that she might not have been as fully apprised of what she's getting into as one might expect, given her familial experience in this milieu. Or....she IS as fully aware as is possible, and she knows exactly what she's getting into. I just know how I'd feel if I were a parent of a kid like Madison. But I'm not, so it doesn't really matter. All are just expressions of opinion, of a place/program I once loved.

When one says a person would have been "better advised" than to choose a program like Duke, then one is surely criticizing the advice that person received, and by extension is criticizing that person's ultimate choice of Duke.

Your observation nonetheless, is a critical one....

Its official (for now). Morris is headed to the "Unversity of Baylor" (also known as Baylor University).

Another commit for South Carolina - this time in 5-11 wing Bianca Jackson of Montgomery Alabama. She is the #54th overall prospect in the 2017 cycle per ESPN. I believe this was the final available scholarship for the class...

Does that mean you're no longer recruiting Westbrook?

Was that a "bird in the hand . . ." decision?

As is the case with all collegiate sports, recruiting and team rosters is an ever-flowing, changing river. What seems to be the case 5 minutes ago is very rarely the case 5 minutes from now. We will see what we will see.....

Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like Auburn is building a classic Auburn/SEC team. Big, very athletic, strong rebounders, no shot.

Good gets for Auburn assuming that's the direction they want to go.

Or Washington STate's.

Cougs current roster features players from Austrailia (2), France, Serbia, Macedonia, Greece, Bulgaria, and Portugal.

Perhaps. But rebounding bigs may be what Auburn needs in future classes. THis year's frosh class is composed of guards and wings so maybe they have the shooting part covered.

True. And Unique Thompson is a versatile forward. She's not a prolific outside shooter at the forward spot (like say, Breanna Stewart) but she has been known to stretch the defense. She's a top 100 player, a lot of schools wanted her.. she even had a SC offer.
