Stanford picks up third 2017 commitment, all in the few days: Alyssa Jerome, 6-1 F, Harbord Collegiate Institute (Toronto).

unknown. She sounds young and under-developed. But she did avg almost 16 pts, 9.5 rebs at the U18 Fiba championships this summer. Fairly impressive for a 16 year old. Hopefully Tara can reign in the propensity to clank threes.

They must have had a nice visit. What's Dodson waiting for? Wink

That's so cool---I read about her in the local paper just a few weeks ago!

Toronto is the largest city in Canada, about the size of Chicago, but it's still not common for kids in the public school system to play D1 sports in the States.

Hailey Brown of Hamilton, Ontario has committed to Michigan. The 6-foot-2 forward picked the Big Ten school over multiple suitors including Duke and Harvard.

Probably for her visit to her third finalist, Notre Dame.

boo. hiss. boo. hiss. Mad

Seems so.
@Raoul_000
WBB: Maya Dodson (GA-2017), espnW #11, is taking her 3rd/final official visit this weekend, to Notre Dame; first 2 were Tennessee & Stanford

Just in time for ND's "Ball Out at the Bookstore" event, hosted by Ruth Riley.

She's placed quite a bit of emphasis on selecting a school first and foremost for it's education. One must think Stanford has to be atop this list. However, Notre Dame is right on it's heels.
Tennessee, meanwhile, landed her high school teammate last week. Going to be interesting. Glad she visited Stanford with all of it's other commits.

Do junior colleges pay for these European players that come over?

yes and no. Here's the scoop on scholarships: https://www.scholarships.com/financial-aid/college-scholarships/scholarships-by-type/athletic-scholarships/njcaa-scholarships/

And it is irritating how poorly these college sites are updating their news. There is still no mention of this on the OrSU site. I notice that a lot of the schools have the exact same format, so assume they are shipping out website maintainance to a third party, but still the schools must have to provide the news/stories. It's all becoming pretty robotic. Evil or Very Mad

sounds like the big girl doesn't come to OrSU until next year:

Myrtle, you can watch Maya Dodson make her choice tonight at 9 eastern time at

https://passthaball.com/2016/10/18/maya-dodson-announces-today/

I'm guessing Stanford is the winner, unless they decided that the distance is just too much, and then maybe ND can slip in.

But, at the same time I've followed football recruiting closely for too many years to be surprised any more by recruits who swear academics are priority #1 "which is why today I'm choosing to attend Southeastern North Arkansas A&T over Stanford, Princeton, Notre Dame, Northwestern, and Duke".

She's going to be a great addition for someone. I think she has "star" written all over her.

so excited for the trees!!! We needed this one. Back in the mix again. Now if we can only pull another post out of the air somewhere ... and crossing fingers that Fingall can hold down a spot there in the shorter run.

[ps: she will have to learn that it is Cardinal not Cardinals, but we won't hold that against her]

Thrilled that Tara has been able to land some real talent with Williams and Dodson.

Not quite like the years of landing the #2 ranked Appel then #4 ranked Pedersen then #6 ranked Nneka then #1 ranked Chiney ... then miss out on #3 Skylar... but hey I'll take it and hope we can get in the mix for another top 5 player one of these years!

Blue Star does have Dodson at #4. Otherwise #24 PN, #14 ASGR and # 11 ESPN.

Williams
#8 ESPN
#12 PN
#18 ASGR
#34 BS

Big range from both players on the various services though. Not really a "consensus" Top 10 kid, but still, both will likely be McD AA.

Pretty sure we are now full up. Well think there is one more scholy available but none of the top players are either interested or can make admissions. So our (Stanford) ranking is bound to drop. Still really happy with this class - 2 in the top 15 and three overall in the top 50. Better than it's been for quite awhile. Just waiting for an academically qualified big to go with our quality guards/wings.

What's up with B1G recruiting? Thought they were on a bit of an upswing the past couple years and not just with OSU and Maryland.

There are very few considering a B1G team left in the top 100, but Sydney Cooks has 4 B1G teams in her final 5.

Yeah but if a 6'6" top 50 suddenly expressed interest, I think that would change. Wink
