2 Dayton recruits have withdrawn their verbal commitments and reopened their recruiting since Jim Jabir's resignation. They are Victoria Oglesby, 5'8 G from Suwannee, GA, who changed her mind a week after a home visit from new coach Shauna Green and staff, and Jaelynn Penn, 5'10 W from Louisville, KY, who changed her mind earlier this month.

Dazia Powell, 5'9 2/3 out of Millbrook HS in Raleigh, NC has committed to ODU. She's gotten some pretty good reviews. apparently, even if she is a bit undersized.

And

Madison Covington. 5'11 F from CE Ellison HS, Killeen, TX, has given a verbal commitment to VCU.

Similarly, if the family name is Head, the parents should think long and hard about naming their son Richard.

Which was Pat Head Summitt's father's name. And NOBODY called him "Dick". Or at least nobody did and lived! Very Happy

#8 in 2017 per ESPN (#12 by PN), Kiana Williams visiting Stanford this weekend. Many expect her to possibly pull the trigger in Palo Alto this weekend.
She is also considering Baylor, Texas Tech and Oregon State. She's from San Antonio and is a 5'7 point guard.

and double yes!

now we just have to convince Walker that the West Coast is a lovely place! Wink

I already really like this year's recruiting class and if we can add these two, things will be looking better in tree land. Just need to find another big for the future.

South Dakota State Recruits that have given a verbal.

2017
Lindsey Theuninck- G – Mankato (Minnesota) Loyala

Tylee Irwin- G/F – Wahpeton (Minnesota)

Myah Selland- F – Sanborn Central/Woonsocket (South Dakota)

Also in 2017 get transfers off of their one year sit…
Taygen Larsen, Redshirt Sophomore (was at Iowa, from Sioux Falls)

Chynna Stevens, Redshirt Senior (Was at SDSU, transferred to the other after her sophomore season SDSU, sat out her year and now is coming back to the right SDSU and has to sit another year.)

2018
Lauren Rongisch- G — Millard West HS in Omaha, Nebraska http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2701644/lauren-rongisch

Addison Hirschman-F Kingsley-Pierson Kingsley, Iowa http://www.hudl.com/athlete/4902127/addison-hirschman

Paiton Burckhard- F Aberdeen Central, Aberdeen, South Dakota http://www.argusleader.com/story/spo...cess/82186714/

Sydney Stapleton-F Centennial High School, Circle Pines, Minnesota http://www.hudl.com/athlete/4998231/sydney-stapleton

Just to show how far out the Jacks are looking...

they offered a 2020 this week Madysen Vlastuin of Lennox, SD (Her second D1 offer already)

This is really an interesting strategy for the team that clearly is aiming for postseason success at the D1 level. South Dakota State seems almost entirely focused on getting the best players from its own backyard, regardless of how highly rated they are outside the area. So far, it's worked pretty well, and there is some logic to it:
the players are good, if not great, the coaching is good, and everyone is united in a common mission, to prove that this area can indeed produce quality basketball players.

I don't know if this formula could be duplicated anywhere else, but it's working pretty well at South Dakota State.

yeah, from the clips I've seen of her she reminds me a bit of Kate Starbird. That could be a very good thing. Now waiting for a quality big and we'll be set. We do have hopes for Fingall in this year's class, so hopefully she helps fill that slot.

unknown. She sounds young and under-developed. But she did avg almost 16 pts, 9.5 rebs at the U18 Fiba championships this summer. Fairly impressive for a 16 year old. Hopefully Tara can reign in the propensity to clank threes.

They must have had a nice visit. What's Dodson waiting for? Wink
