RUSTON, La. (AP) — Louisiana Tech has hired Brooke Stoehr to be its next women's basketball coach.

The school announced Stoehr's hiring on Monday. Stoehr will be introduced during a news conference on campus Tuesday.

Stoehr replaces Tyler Summitt, who resigned on April 7 after acknowledging he had an inappropriate relationship. The 25-year-old Summitt is the son of Hall of Fame coach Pat Summitt. He had a 30-31 record over two seasons at Louisiana Tech before his surprising resignation.

Stoehr has been the co-head coach at Northwestern State (La.) for the past four seasons along with her husband Scott. She played for Louisiana Tech from 1998 to 2002 and was also previously an assistant coach at the school.

So does that mean the husband's staying behind at Northwestern State?

I just read an article suggesting that Scott will be on staff, but no details. We'll know more at 2:30

Yeah, but who'd have guessed that they'd actually hire the only married co-head coaches in D1 but demand the female be named the sole HC?

How many of the 2016 recruits are keeping their commitments? We already know Jaida Roper has been released from hers. Any players leaving?

Actually, the press conference article said Scott would be named co-head coach when he is officially hired by the university.

My immediate reaction was that he looks like Blake Farenthold. I guess there's not too much chance of female players and him.... Evil or Very Mad I know, that's nasty.

Stoehr: Techsters can capitalize on recent notoriety

...“Absolutely, (we can capitalize) on the publicity,” said Stoehr, the featured guest on this month’s Roy Lang III Show. “They know our name. I’ve been at a place where they don’t know who you are or what state you’re in and you have to be able to sell that.

"They know Louisiana Tech. A lot of them know because of the tradition, but these younger players, this may be what they know. I’m not afraid of that. They know who we are, we’ve been in the news lately and that’s OK. I’m not going to shy away from that...
