Now why would anyone want to do a thing like that?

No, seriously, I'm sure she has a perfectly valid reason.

Could be a dozen different reasons. But one likely one is that she thinks she will get more than 8.8 minutes/game. And she is probably correct.

Well yeah. Bama is pretty awful.

Whoa, that could be yuge for Maryland. Any chance she doesn't have to sit out a full year? In any case, she should be all set to go by next season's Big Ten conference schedule.

Two prima donnas on the same court, her and Frese? I foresee an epic clash or two.

What makes her any more of a prima dona than DeShields, Stevens, or any other of the many transfers? Seems like the standard for you is whether or not you like the school or coach.

I'm surprised that you'd refer to Frese as a prima donna - I can't think of anything that would suggest she has that sort of personality. To me, she comes across as a warm, friendly and sometimes goofy coach. Of course, I'm a fan of Maryland, so my perspective is biased. But she really doesn't strike me as high maintenance, intimidating or unfairly demanding - qualities I typically associate with the term "prima donna."

I do think she's guilty of using lots of cliches and giving long-winded motivation speeches, but prima donna - no.

Edited to add - as for Christinaki, I'm assuming she must be aware that she'll have some competition for playing time on the wing in Confroy, Charles, Watson, Small, Myers and Leslie next year. She's still chosen Maryland.

Would like to know the answer Christinaki had for Frese when she was asked "why did your coach want to bench you for a half and why were you unwilling to submit to such a minor punishment?" But maybe she didn't ask.

and maybe Frese just called and asked the coach.

If I were Frese I would have asked both of them and compared stories. Not sure I would be so willing to accept anybody, no matter how good, who was unwilling to accept such a minor punishment. I mean seriously, one HALF?

"We are thrilled to welcome Eleanna to our Maryland family,” coach Brenda Frese said in a release. “Our fans are going to love her energy. She is a dynamic, competitive, scoring guard who is going to bring a vast amount of experience to our team. She has played at the highest level from a very young age. Her impact will be felt immediately.”

Just as it was at Florida.

Quote:
"I am very happy to be joining the Maryland women's basketball team,” Christinaki said in the release. “Coach Frese inspired me from the first time that we met and I cannot wait to play for her. I love the team and how talented the players are. I am excited to be joining such a special group and university."

Christinaki will enroll at Maryland for the spring semester, which starts Jan. 25. Because of NCAA rules, she will have to sit out a year before she becomes eligible to play.

Maryland loses All-Big Ten Conference guard Shatori Walker-Kimbrough to graduation but returns a number of wings next season.

Probably the best answer she could give to Frese.

I would bet it is something more than just she felt she did no wrong, or that the punishment didn't fit the crime. That is, she probably wasn't 100% happy before the incident, whatever it was.

Sophomore G Briunna Freeman has left the Arkansas basketball program. She was sidelined with injury for the majority of the season. No word on whether she is transferring or simply quitting basketball. She is from Pelham, GA.

She is the third player to quit the program this season, along with Jordan Danberry and Tatiyana Smith.

“I was disappointed about it, but it happens,” Graves told reporters after the loss to Washington.

Hard to avoid transfers when you have a 7-player recruiting class. She might still be there is Ionescu hadn't made the late decision to go to Oregon.

I kinda expected it to be one of the bigs. They have six players over 6-3 and only one of them is an upper classman. If I'm a big Frosh with my ass glued to the bench, it would cross my mind to go someplace where I was actually needed.

Remind me again where Woods is from. That could have some bearing on why she went where she went. Also, maybe she just liked Pebley's pitch, and the team.

Crystal Dangerfield reportedly (Hartford TV) will miss the next couple of weeks due to a nagging foot injury, according to Geno.

Absolute shame about Macy, love her game - she is one of the hidden gems of the game.

SDSU's Clarissa Ober went down with a knee injury last night.

And the hits just keep on coming.

Ober returned last night for the Jackrabbits. Good news for them.

There appears to be a backstory on the Freeman departure. Shortly after she left, Dykes tweeted the following with the comment
"Truth at its simplest form."

Now Freeman has tweeted the following message:

Will we ever learn what actually is happening at Arkansas?

Oregon just announced that Megan Trinder will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury. Sad Too late for a redshirt, I guess.
