Story is about an All-American swimmer at Purdue that suffered from anorexia but I think that the message could possibly be related to athletes/coaches in other sports.

I met her once and she seemed like a pretty impressive young woman. I had heard bits and pieces of her situation and at one point it seemed pretty dire.

You're right, this is something that everyone should be aware of.

My impression was that swimming, being involved in collegiate athletics, is what allowed and inspired her to get her life back. She had to battle anorexia, depression and the loss of her mother in addition to other challenges with her health (physical and mental). Without that support structure, it is hard to imagine her being as healthy as she is today.
