Quote:
Tyler Summitt, the son of Hall of Famer Pat Summitt, has resigned as the women's basketball coach at Louisiana Tech after "engaging in a relationship that has negatively affected the people I love, respect and care about the most."

The 25-year-old Summitt just finished his second season at the school.

"It is with great regret that I resign from my position as head coach of the women's basketball program at Louisiana Tech University," he said in a statement released by the university Thursday. "I am profoundly disappointed in myself for engaging in a relationship that has negatively affected the people I love, respect and care about the most.

"My hope, plans and prayers are to repair those relationships. I am appreciative of the opportunity I was given to coach at Louisiana Tech. I am heartbroken that my time has ended in Ruston, [Louisiana], but because of my respect for the institution, it is best that I resign. I am hopeful the media and the public will respect the privacy of my family and me as we deal with this difficult situation I have caused."

Summitt is a graduate of Tennessee, where his mother coached for 38 years before stepping down in 2012 due to early-onset dementia, Alzheimer's type. He was a student assistant coach for his mother and the Lady Vols, and he is also a co-founder and board member of The Pat Summitt Foundation.

He began his professional coaching career as an assistant at Marquette in 2012 before taking over the head-coaching job at Louisiana Tech in 2014.

He married the former AnDe Ragsdale, whom he has known since high school in Knoxville, Tennessee, in 2013. They do not have children.

Any repercussions expected for the player?

Or remove her from the team if any eligibility is left.

There are two Marquette kids on the roster. One a senior, the other a RS Jr. I've heard one or the othersnames mentioned in connection with this situation. Depending on which one it is, eligibility might still apply.

That would make sense to me.

Why the sarcasm?

Legit question, imo.

You say she has no eligibility left- you know who it is?

Why?

I don't think it's typically considered appropriate to punish the subordinate individual in an unequal relationship like this. I think she would typically be considered the victim of sexual harrasment given his position of authority and control.

Indeed, it's probably illegal to punish her. They'll be lucky if they don't get sued already.

While the student conduct code probably has general wording regarding ethical behavior, I'd be surprised if there was overreaching clauses specifically related to adultry. So likely nothing could be done regarding records, attendance, expulsion, etc. plus, if it's true the student-athlete is pregnant, university repercussions would ignite a public crapstorm.

Wow, that's a shame. Dumb decision making by both involved - hopefully they can put their lives back together without causing any more damage.

Given what has been given out in terms of rumors, it would be pretty easy to figure out who the player is.

But is the pregnancy thing real or just another unsubstantiated rumor? If real, the story got even worse.

These rumors have been active on the LaTech and other boards for several days. Since the rumors have turned out to be substantially true, the identity of the player involved can probably be narrowed down from the info on those boards.

Wow....what a fuckboi. His career is over and rightfully so.This little pervert probably had his eyes set on this girl before he ever Became Head Coach.

New NCAA mandatory rules:

1.Every coach must have 5 years assistant coaching experience before there is any consideration for a HC position.

2.There should be a minimum age requirement of 30 years old for any HC position.

Those two rules have little to do with coaches sleeping with players. Older bosses/professors/coaches than 30 have slept with subordinates.

Maybe they were/are in love, I think it's unnecessary to be calling him names and stuff like that.

Wow. That makes this a much bigger deal.

If you thought before they were dumb asses, so they're having an affair that would get him fired, not to mention divorced, and make him essentially unemployable in his chosen profession, and embarass the hell out of his famous and disabled mother if discovered, and they don't take any steps to prevent a pregnancy? What is this, 7th grade?

He's too stupid to be a coach.

Now I REALLY feel sorry for his wife. This is his first child. What a scumbag.
