If Marquette hadn't beaten St. John's, this would be a major trap game for Seton Hall- they're coming off the big win against DePaul, next up is the return match with St. John's at SHU, and the Pirates sort of beat four flavors of crap out of Marquette at Walsh. But now Marquette's made themselves noticeable.

Yeah Seton Hall won that game going away. Marquette cannot afford a slow start today - they were down 15-0 to start the other game.

Go Marquette!

Awesome execution just before the half to hit a three and MU leads 42-31 at the half.

Marquette is falling apart Sad. The big lead is gone. 71-62 MU with 7:38 to go with SHU free throws coming up after an MU timeout.

Marquette Fan, how is your team doing this? I'd be lying if I said I didn't mind, but it's kinda cool a little bit.

I wish I knew Smile. I was so not expecting this especially after their home opener loss to IUPUI when I honestly wondered if they would win one BE game. Something seemed to click with this team at the FIU Tournament at Thanksgiving time.

My theory is they are winning with talent, heart and balance. They are a much shorter team than Seton Hall yet they had a 45-38 rebounding advantage. Allazia Blockton continued to star for MU with her 8th double double of the season - 21 points and 10 rebounds. And Erika Davenport pulled down an impressive 14 rebounds to go along with her 16 points. Davenport replacing Valentine in the starting lineup partway through the season has been a great move - she is coming on really strong.

For balance, they had 5 players in double figures. And Natisha Hiedeman who is their second leading scorer had only 5 points today but they didn't really need her scoring today. Amani Wilborn had a 'quiet' 17 points off the bench today - my friend and I were surprised to notice she had 12 points during the second half today - we didn't realize she was scoring that much.

The thing that impressed me the most today was weathering the storm. They let a 20 point lead get down to 5 in the fourth quarter and looked to be crumbling under the Seton Hall press. But they battled back and went on a 9-0 run to take control of the game once and for all.

Blockton now has the record for points as a freshman at Marquette and has at least 8 more games to add to that record (previous record was 399 by Angel Robinson). Hiedeman is also on pace to score more than 399 points this season.

They have a solid crew of talented freshman along with sharp shooting junior McKayla Yentz. They add four talented recruits next season and bring in some much needed height. As long as everyone stays and improves, the future looks quite exciting for this team.
