Notre Dame at Valparaiso (on ESPN3)

ND leads 32-7 at the end of one quarter.

ND offense looks lots smoother and more effective than it has previously this year.

Tulsa up 15 at end of 3rd. If Arkansas and LSU both lose today that's an RPI hit for the SEC.

Notre Dame beat Valpo 110-54.

Freshman Marina Mabrey had a triple double - 18 points, 10 assists -- both career bests -- and a school-record 12 steals. She shot 6-7 from the floor, 6-8 from the free throw line.

Westbeld and Ogunbowale each had 16. ND shot 61% and had 19 steals and 7 blocks. All 12 players scored, 6 in double figures.

Michigan beat USC Upstate 119-61, U-M's highest output of the NCAA era. Katelyn Flaherty led with 34 points, but the most exciting part for the team was our walk-on, Halle Wangler, scoring her first career bucket at the end.

The Michigan athletics family lost a member this morning. Chad Carr, 5 year old grandson of Lloyd Carr (retired FB coach) died after a 15-month fight with DIPG (same cancer as Lauren Hill's). The WBB team was decked out in #ChadTough orange t-shirts from recent fundraiser they supported. Kim's daughters go to school with Chad's brothers. She hugged and kissed her kids extra tonight after the win.

We went to the Convo Center and watched JMU dispose of Liberty, 72-56. It wasn't quite the beatdown I'd hoped, but JMU was pretty mad from the beating they'd taken at UCLA and they took it out on the Flames.

A couple of things to note. Jazmon Gwathmey is pretty awesome. She is quick, she sees the floor, and she has a silky shot. She's also mean as hell on defense. Some bigger schools missed out there. Angela Mickens....I can see why she made the long list for the Lieberman Award. And when they graduate, there's more coming. Kenny Brooks recruits well.

As for Liberty, they are not what they used to be. And they play dirtier than girls from an oh-so-"Christian" college ought to. I don't think they'll run their conference this year. As The Man said, their bigs can't get out of their own way, let alone anyone else's.

Santa Clara leading Stanford 41-33 at the end of 3 perods.

Free live video is available on the Stanford WBB website if you want to see an exciting fourth quarter.

BTW, are these aqua colored uniforms something new for Stanford? I don't recall seeing these before.

Santa Clara up 5 with 34 seconds to go and SC shooting free throws.

Thompson has made a couple big 3s for Stanford down the stretch, but Stanford's interior defense had been awful. Santa Clara just keeps driving for layups.

Now 24 seconds, Santa Clara still up 5.

Ten seconds to go. Thompson hits another huge 3. 2 pt Santa Clara lead. Now Santa Clara has to sink fts.

Makes 1 of 2. Thompson throws up an air ball on a three attempt.

Less than a second to go.

Down goes Stanford. 61-58, Santa Clara wins.

BTW, the Stanford turquoise and red uniforms were really nice I thought. Weren't Stanford colors, but that doesn't sem to matter these days. They looked really good.

However considering the outcome of the game, they will likely never be seen again.

And 20 of 42 from the line for a blistering 47.6%! Meaning that they should be getting blisters on their fingers from all of the free throws they should be shooting in the next few days. Take away Mabrey's 6 of 8 and it drops to 41.2!

And don't think it was just because it was the subs in. The starters were only 3 of 6.

With this type of shooting and the new rule, I see a lot of fouls in NDs future.
