Gabby Green has not played in the past 4 games, leaving Cal with only 1 guard, a freshman. I cannot see them matching up with Stanford with that personnel, as Tara is too sharp. Unless Gabby returns (out for personal reasons), Cal will lose the their next 2 games games (both against the Cardinal).

Is there any word on whether Green is returning tonight? 15.5 point underdogs but maybe Cal can cover the spread if she plays.

Interesting that Stanford isn't trying the same strategy as UW against Anigwe. They cannot guard her one on one so why try?

Feels much like the game last night, Cal played with great effort in the first half but I expect Stanford to stretch the lead in the third quarter.

myrtle, I see what you were saying about Lili Thompson. Rolling Eyes

yeah when she's off like this, it would be better for Tara to just sit her on the bench for awhile. It's really inexplicable. But I guess sitting her would affect her confidence, though missing shot after shot has to affect it too. It's sad for me to see the Trees struggling so much. It's pretty ugly.

true. but somehow it offers little consolation. I do love how patient Coach has been with them though. She knows this is not 'the' year and is just trying to encourage them to do the best they can with what they have. I think she has mellowed out over the years. Still it hurts to watch them struggling so much. I miss Amber a lot! And I think the team in the past has usually had someone like that who could be the rock to depend upon, and this team just doesn't have it. You can see that when they try to read and react on offense, it just stutters to a standstill...or a TO. anyway, on to Berkeley and let's win there!

I would think that Karlie would have developed into that "rock" of which you speak, or do you mean something more than a mindset? Does this "rock" need to possess the ability to create her own shot? If so, then your best chance is Lili, but I'm sure that will work.
