Here's the link to this year's stats, thanks to Cardinal: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Y-VASnIL8ya6_A_AloutT3ZzQQJtxt4MY72TwLroD-8/edit?usp=sharing

Here's the link to last year's thread with the rules used:
http://boards.rebkell.net/viewtopic.php?t=74024&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Current rules

-each roster 13 players with a daily lineup limit of eight players structured like this: 3G, 2F, 1C, and 2U (U's can be any position)
- a player's position shall be whatever is listed on the team's website and/or whatever's listed on rivals.com(yahoo) or whatever is listed on wbbstate. If they conflict, then that player can be used as either one. If a team website uses the designations Post or Wing, they shall be construed as follows: P = F/C and W = G/F.
-we have 2 IR spots which can only be used AFTER a player misses an entire game. That player can then be put on the IR and you can sign someone else. When the IR player is re-activated you must release somebody from your current roster.
- stats count only for starting lineup players (bench player stats don't count)
- owners must post their daily lineup in this thread - bench players' stats don't count for your team so this is REALLY important. You can post day by day, or for an entire week, month, or season. Please post clearly player name, school, and the position at which you are playing them. Lineups must be posted before games start that day
- scoring determined by pts, reb, ast, steals, blk, 3's-made, 3pt%, FG%, FT%, & TOs
- player eligibility is Division I only (no DivII, DivIII, or intramural players)
- open free agency - first to the punch wins
- transaction limits:
- three transactions in a calender week (runs from 12 am Sunday to 12 am following Sunday Eastern time - this is Saturday midnight)
- trade/transaction deadline: Feb 7
- live draft will have snake format (the last team to draft in the first round will draft first in the second round and so forth)
- players can be drafted only once by only one team (two different teams cannot have the same player)
- game ends at end of regular season - so playoffs games don't count.

We can obviously change rules if a majority agree.

Last year stats and standings were posted here: http://rebfanbball.altervista.org/index.htm

I'd be willing to give it a shot if you're looking for more players.

I don't think I've played any fantasy games since that WNBA VGM game 10 years ago, so y'all might have to take it easy on me... Laughing

Welcome!
Think of the first time through as a learning experience. On the other hand, we just had a total newbie win the WNBA version, so it's possible!

Good! We don't want mambie pambie's around here. Wink

...and yeah, we have fun poking fun at each other too.

One of the fun aspects of the game is that it forces you to follow players/teams that you may not have even noticed before - which really broadens your perspective about ncaaw.

In general my advice to newbies is to consider that all the categories have equal weight so if you find somebody who helps you in five categories but severely hurts you in three, you need to search for a balance to get somebody or somebodies that help you in those three areas. Or your strategy can be to write off one or two categories while trying to win all the rest. Or you can simply have fun and choose all the players you enjoy watching - to heck with their stats!

You know, that might be a fun fantasy game! We could draft teams instead of individual players. But we'd have to come up with a whole different set of rules. How many players from a team could you play or would you have to play? Maybe team stats would somehow be used as well as the individual. Like you could get bonus points at the end depending on overall record and conference record. Maybe points for minus points against too. And maybe we'd have to exclude the top four teams in the AP poll - like you could only draft an individual from them instead of a whole team. So for instance your fantasy team could have 5 non-top 4 teams plus one individual from a top 4. Plus maybe at the end of the draft, pick up one other individual whose team was not drafted. And you would have to play two and only two players from each of your teams in any particular game. Good creative thinking is required. This could be a blast!

...but not for this game in this thread... so if you want to start such a league, go for it.

If you've still got room, I'll play this season.

For a Cal fan? Hmmm, I'm not sure.

Okay, sure we'd love to have you! We have plenty of room.

Good Question. I was hoping that a few more people might turn up, but the way I see it we have...

1. The Perennial Favorites aka. The Miracles (Myrtle)
2. Calbearman76
3. Matt5762
4. zvyn3
5. Tbinta

I haven't seen Idchafee, Queenie, HappyCappie, or any others from last year, so we'll give them some time to stop by. What I'd say, is that since Opening Weekend isn't until the 13th of November, we'll likely aim for the week before the season for the actual draft.

As myrtle mentioned, we'll be doing a rolling draft up until the live draft, meaning that perhaps a week before our assigned draft time, people will be able to select picks using the draft order. This is used to speed up the draft--and to make it less painful.

Welcome, Calbearman!

As for draft date, I would like to wait until we have at least 8 before getting started. I think it's still a little early for some people to start thinking about college ball (silly people)! I can't wait!

It would be nice to hear from some of the oldies (not literal oldies of course). Hopefully GEF, Queenie, HappyC, StephenS,... will drop by.

As Cardinal mentions, I'd like to start the drafting early, then we can choose a date to sit down together and finish it off. If people have dates in mind, we can start discussing. My first thought is Sunday, Nov 8 at 8 pm Eastern? But if we can get several rounds drafted before that, we can keep it from becoming a major marathon that evening, especially if everyone has their lists together beforehand. To that end, please check your PM settings here on Rebs. Once we get started I'm thinking we'll try to have each person, as soon as they make their pick, PM whoever is next in line. If your settings are right, this should send an email to your regular email account, which means you won't have to continually come here to refresh to see when your turn comes (of course you will still have to check to see which players have already been taken). I think that will speed things up. Any other ideas are welcome.
