we have to decide if we want to go ahead and play if we only have six? I'd like to wait until next weekend to see if we can't get a couple more by then. I think 8 is an optimal number...though with only six I guess there's more really good players for all of us!

Gef is not playing this year but has graciously agreed to pull names out of a hat to get the draft order. I'm planning to post what he sends me at 3 pm Eastern on Sunday...so the deadline to join will be 2:45 pm Eastern Sunday Nov 1. We can then begin our rolling draft, which will be concluded the following Sunday at 8 pm Eastern. As mentioned before, please make sure your PMs are set up to send you an email to an address to which you are attentive, then as each person makes a choice they can PM the next in line to let them know they will be 'on the clock'. We'll try to keep it moving but there will be no specific time limit...though if you think you'll be out of touch for a long period of time, it would be nice if you would PM me or someone else in the group (maybe someone who has already picked in that round) with a list of who your next pick will be and it can be posted for you. If someone wants to join later, they can create a team from free agents, or if we're in the middle of the draft already, we can plug them in at the end of the current round.

Hopefully that's all clear. Question So check in Sunday afternoon and we'll get going. Very Happy

Sounds good to me.

Myrtle, is there a way that I can help you with the stats?

That would be awesome! Collecting the game info is what takes time once I have the spreadsheet set up. Are you thinking a specific schedule or just that sometimes you might have time? I can give you details on how I do it and maybe you can even come up with a better methodology.

I'm currently in the middle of a job hunt, so I find myself with some time on my hands, so I'm just trying to find things to occupy my time. I'd love to see how you do it, and figure out how I can best help from there.

Welcome! The draft begins this Sunday, but it is a rolling draft that goes on throughout the week until next Sunday where we will finish up.

Gef has sent me the following order for drafting…and the lucky winner of the Stewie sweepstakes is:
Odd rounds including Round one
1. Matt5762
2. pureform
3. tbinta
4. calbearman
5. Cardinal (grr…)
6. myrtle
7. zvyn3

Even rounds including Round two
8. zvyn3
9. myrtle
10. Cardinal
11. calbearman
12. tbinta
13. pureform
14. Matt5762

I will try to keep a running list of the picks at the top of this thread in my second post up there. Please post your pick as completely as possible – full name with position and school. One thing that sometimes happens is that you refresh and refresh and still don’t see any action – but it’s because the thread has moved on to a new page, so keep your eye on the bottom and make sure you’re on the current page.

Once you make a pick please PM the person who follows you in that round. I expect we’re all ready and will want to get this rolling so we may get a bunch done today but since we don’t have a time limit don’t get too frustrated if this takes some time – we have all week and I’m hoping to get 6 or 7 rounds in by next Sunday Nov 8 at 8 pm EDT, at which time we WILL have a time limit on picks and will try to complete the draft quickly. Meanwhile please do be considerate this week and if possible don’t take more than 4 or 5 hours to do your pick or else send a list to someone else who can make the pick for you off your list.

Anomalies:
I highly recommend that you go to the school’s website and make sure the player you want is actually on the roster before submitting your pick. If someone makes a pick of a player who is out for the year or who has graduated and you know about the problem, this is a friendly game, so please let them know of their mistake. We will go on drafting but that person can jump in with a replacement pick when he/she sees the error of his/her ways.

If someone jumps in and wants to join, we will plug them in at the end of the current round…so if they came in round four for instance, we would give them two picks after Matt takes his round four pick and before he takes his round five pick. The new fantasizer will then continue in that position throughout the rest of the draft and will have to fill in with free agents at the end of the draft to bring his/her roster up to 13.

Good luck all and let the fun begin. [just don’t take my favs please] Evil or Very Mad

I'll try not to; just send me your list. After all, I'm from Cal so you know you can trust me.

Now there's a contradiction in terms! Wink

Quick rules question before we start. Do statistics count for games against non- Div I schools?

yes. if your player's team plays poodunk after the start of the season (nov 13), their stats do count.

ok, I have a proposal to make. It appears Matt is not around and since most, maybe all of the rest of us are (except zv who said she/he would be here within an hour). How about if we assign Breanna Stewart to Matt and if he shows up and doesn't want her for some infathomable reason, we allow him to switch players with whoever takes the player he really wanted #1. Anyone object to that?

Haha...yeah, I would've hated to have been "stuck" with her.

Sorry for the delay, my PM notification wasn't set up right, but I think I've gotten it straightened out now.

I also PM'ed pureform, so hopefully he/she got it...
