Connecticut is a 16 point favorite over Notre Dame. If you prefer to just bet UConn to win, you'll have to bet $100 to win $5.

The over/under (total score for both teams is 145.5.

For all the recent posts regarding parity and whether the dominance of UConn is good for the game, this is the basic problem. Basketball is supposed to be a competitive sport. The line for the women's final is higher than the line for all but a handful of first round games in the men's tournament involving 1 and 2 seeds.

In the semis, UConn was a 21 point favorite over Maryland. In all their previous games they were at least a 30 point favorite. This is not competitive and does not help the game.

Lines, of course, are set based on perception about how people will bet, not on how the oddsmakers expect the games to come out.

In some ways, you could argue that makes it even worse.

This is a pretty good line. I went with Notre Dame since I hope they win outright.

I find unconvincing all arguments that UConn's dominance is good for the game. I don't think it's even good for UConn in terms of UConn fan interest and attendance. I predicted months ago that UConn would shatter the NCAA's all-time D1 MOV record, and they will do that by about five ppg.

Bettors have pushed the line up to 18 and the total to 148.

That is high enough for me to take Notre Dame.

the Massey line is -13.5/145.5

I took the points and the Over in my hypothetical bet.
