Just based on the make-up of this roster I have a hard time seeing Stewart starting or seeing significant time on the perimeter. That would leave 5 guards and 2 posts coming off the bench. That's not very balanced. My guess would be Jefferson, Mitchell, Walker-Kimbrough or Plum as the 3rd guard (perimeter height is not necessarily on a surplus in South America, so not having a true 3 is not much of a liability here), Stewart at the 4 (which I think is her best position anyway) and one of Coates, Mavunga or Reimer in the middle.

Edit: I was getting Courtney Williams mixed up with Courtney Walker. So either her or Walker-Kimbrough will probably start at the 3.

I think you've got it about right.

I just can't see Stewart as a wing player any where other then the AAC.

She played wing in her freshman year and sophomore year. She spent most of her time on the perimeter which is why she had an adjustment problem in the beginning of this most recent campaign when she was asked to play with her back to the basket more often than not.

I'll take face up 4 but long term Stewie will have more success as a 4/5 then a 3/4 or 4/3.

I agree, Stewie is a stretch 4. She is a post player with a guard skill set

Re: Breanna? I'd think she could play ANY position, if asked. I really think she'll be mostly a 3, bit o' 4 at the next level, no?

Kelsey Plum will be a solid contributor on this team, too, I'm certain.

An interesting thought experiment:

Can you make a better team of non-WNBA players?

I will let you include Parker and Fowles if you want, but not Taurasi.

Consider more experienced players like a Charde Houston or snubbed players like Samantha Prahalis.

Among some of the recent cuts, I would not let you choose Gemelos (possibly being re-signed/playing for Greece?) or A. Paris (naturalized) or Amber Harris (reserved for possible naturalization).

Do you think Stewie can keep some of some of the wings at the pro level in front of her? and can she guard on the perimeter full time.

No. And no. Stewart is versatile in college, but I think she'll be more limited in the pros. I cannot see her playing the 1 or the 2 professionally. She could play some 3, and of course 4. There are some big 5's that would cause her a lot of difficulty as well.

defiantly see her as a 4, I think she could some 5's a fit as well trying to guard her.

The Opening Ceremonies for the Pan Am games are tomorrow at 7:30pm (on ESPN).
I didn't realize they were starting already. First WBB games are a week from today.

I don't think they've even made the last cuts on the mens BB team. Still have 16 on the roster. I assume they don't march in the opening ceremony if they haven't picked the team yet. Looks like the men don't travel to Toronto until the 17th.

Interesting that for the men's team the current roster is a mix of college players and some playing for Russian and Chinese pro teams.

Who does she need to guard? The only problem would be a tall shooter, how many of those are there? In fact how many shooters are there? Stewie can back off with her length and force players to shoot!

Yeah the Games are so long that it does not really make sense for the basketball teams to be there before their tournaments start. I guess that they are hurting with gym space and the men's tournament comes after the women's one.

On the men's side, they pretty much have to take any willing players. Last time they had a bunch of D League types. The problem with the timing this year is that any player with NBA aspirations is competing in Summer League and not interested in this. Of course some collegians are interested in the opportunity.

Damien Wilkins is an NBA and D League vet who has always sought out interesting basketball opportunities, so it was kind of clear that he would want to do something like this. Ryan Hollins is probably just thumbing his nose at Jamaica at this point (they are one of the big full squad disappointments in international basketball alongside Nigeria and the Philippines and some other teams. Anthony Randolph just made the jump to Russia from the NBA this season, so it will be interesting to see his aspirations.

The two main overseas pros are Keith Langford and Bobby Brown and both guys are royalty there. Langford was in Russia this season and Brown is a premier scorer who has been playing in China. Langford was very close to naturalizing for Turkey last summer, so it is interesting to see him turn around and represent his country. I think Brown has been targeted for naturalization in the past as well. That is an obstacle for getting some overseas pros for this.

There is nothing on this from the USA side, but Brazil reports that they lost a pair of exhibitions, 84-65 to us and 67-58 to Cuba. They are probably the biggest threat in our group and Cuba and Canada are the biggest threats in the other group. Veteran Kelly Santos is back leading Brazil.

4:40 left n the 3rd and it's 46-43 US as Brazil is doing a great job of denying the inside on defense and scoring outside on offense.

57-50 US after 3.

Brazil sets some great high screens. Looks like they allow a little movement in the international game.

Brazil managed to take a 3 point lead at one point but the US battled back on some great defense, scoring off turnovers.

USA gets a break when Reimer scores from close in in what looked like a 24 second violation.

USA wins 75-69. link to box score: http://results.toronto2015.org/IRS/en/basketball/results-women-a-02.htm

I think Rhonda Rousey suited up for this game, at least she should have. Get out the Icy Hot. Ouch.

Interesting stat category FD = fouls drawn.

And after watching the game yesterday I'm curious whether anyone still believes the US's WUG game team is the equal of the Pan Am team.
