Do they do these by conference? Because the "regions" certainly aren't geographic.

And the number of players varies widely from region to region.

I would answer yes based on the inclusion of maryland with the Big 10 teams.

Here's the regional breakdown, which IS done by groupings of conferences:

If you were grouped into a conference, with one of the power 5 conferences, it appears you didnt make the list.

Very true, but I wonder when the voting was done. Usually it is right after the regular season for most honors. Might have had a different outcome if the Gonzaga-OSU game was considered in Region 8, but on the other hand, GU bonked its conference tournament and Rueck has done a great job.

Another interesting -- and welcome -- outcome here is that these selections were not completely swayed by all-conference votes:

Idaho's Stacy Barr was second team All-Big Sky and Tyonna Outland did not receive WAC POY honors in Region 7, yet both show up as All-Region over those who beat them out for conference honors. Like the independence, whether the choices were 100 percent right or wrong.

Everybody knows that Maryland is the best team in the Midwest, and Notre Dame is one of the best East Coast teams. Smile
