Lindsay was that way as a player, and learned under a great head coach NOT to be the kind of maniacal, berating type of coach. Others...learned from the opposite, and despite being in their early 30s are maniacal and negative - it's not about age.
Still can't wait for our school to "finally" get rid of this type of coach so I can go back to watching live games.

One of the best interviews within 200 miles, but she talks so fast. I like to say about Coach Gottlieb that if you can't keep up with her in conversation, you don't deserve to get the story.
For four years, if I was in the building, her team lost. That includes her championship UCSB team — the Gauchos lost eight many games that season, I was there for two of 'em.
So for four years, post-game chats with Coach were not easy. "Because we were losing all those games," she said, aware of the jinx I used to joke about. I said that I expected to find my picture at the gate, and refused admittance. Coach ran with it, said she had a stack of flyers at the ready.
First time I talked to her, she was determined to make better use of social media than any other program. When you have to unfollow all of her assistants because they're all retweeting each other, you see she meant it.
When our Gena Johnson broke many parts of herself in an auto accident, it looked so bad at first that we'd begun talking about her in past tense. While everyone else talked about Gena as a great person, only Coach Gottlieb put it in basketball terms: "Never could figure out how to stop her off the dribble," she tweeted. I think if other people had said that, it might've suggested missing the bigger picture, but not with Coach G.
She bends over backward to take care of me. Cal's media relations staff has always said "Get lost, blogboy," leaving Coach to find tickets for me every time. She wanted her media staff to give me press access because that would've made it easier for both of us, but when that didn't happen, she never seemed inconvenienced by my messages at 4 a.m. asking for a pass.
Coach Gottlieb is one of the best people I've met in basketball. I can't say enough good things about her.
I wish Cal were still playing. The thread about the Pac-12's overratedness stung a bit, especially the post that said if Cal can't do it with two stars while Stanford is down, then when!?

I always look for a reason to have her on the podcast; one of my favorite coaches to chat with.
