The media will focus on the Mitchell/Loyd matchup but IMO it will come down to the front line play. Notre dame has 2 freshmen and a sophomore at the post while SC has a senior, a sophomore and 2 freshmen. The 7 have a total of 2 games of FF experience, both by Reimer.

The key matchups will be Ibiam/Coates v Reimer/Westbeld. It won't be who is better but rather who doesn't wet themselves that will be the key.

The game will also pit the 2 uber-freshman posts against each other. I think Turner has developed better than Wilson but again it will come down to how they respond to the pressure of the moment.

You're ignoring ND's dramatic advantage at PG, where Lindsay Allen had 51 pts, 11 assists and shot 54% during the regionals, while playing excellent defense, while S.Car continues to struggle at the position.

That may be the single biggest gap between the teams.

How will the guards match up. Will it be Loyd/Mitchell and Sissions/Allen. Also
Turner/Wilson?

Remember. Wilson comes off the bench. Reimer and Turner will start matched up with Welch and Ibiam. Not sure who will be matched up with who. Then my guess is that it will likely be Allen-Sessions, Loyd- Mitchell, Mabrey-Dozier. And I expect to see ND switch in and out of a zone.

If Sessions plays more than 18 minutes, it should be an 'easy' win for ND.

Maybe, but I haven't seen a lot of defense out of Cuevas. Allen might really enjoy being guarded by her.

If Allen is having a great offensive game I'm sure Staley will put in Gaines. She's a terrific defender and even though her offense is limited, it's still better than Sessions. She's played more minutes than Sessions in 2 of the 4 games in the tournament.

Good. That makes it much easier to help out on the posts.

I don't give SCar much of a chance here. They can't score enough, imo.

80-67.

Gaines is better offensively than Sessions so I don't think it makes that big a difference, but yes, either one of them allows more help in on the posts.

Maybe Wilson will go off and drop 25+ on ND, wouldn't be the 1st time a freshman did something like that to ND in a final four game.

And maybe Lexie Brown will go off and drop 28 on UConn, wouldn't be the first time a sophomore point guard did something like that to UConn in a final four game.

And the rolls.

It all looks pretty disjointed from here so far.
