Zahui goes from not being on the midseason 30 list (by their own oversight) to a semifinalist.

I luv me some MoJeff, but it's a stretch to put her on this list. I think same goes for Lexi Brown.

Realistically I think it should be between Loyd, Stewie, and Zahui. But it will probably go to Stewie just because...

Lexie Brown is a good player but I too think she's getting too much credit in these awards. I suppose they have to include someone from such a high seed, though.

(I still think Wiese is tremendously underrated...)

You can't just throw up a bunch of stats without recognizing the significantly different caliber of competition against which those stats were produced.

Agree to an extent, but I suspect we can parse stats ad nauseum to reflect favorably for one player against another. Think it is between Loyd and Stewart

Is Iowa considered low caliber?

I guess NPOY should only come from UConn and that's it.

Had MIN lost to UConn and SC, would Art feel better about declaring Zahui NPOY? No way...he'll just come up with any argument that favors whoever he's arguing for.

That last column of stats says it all.... Zahui is NPOY

No, to answer your questions, UCONN and Notre Dame are the elite winning programs, giving both Loyd and Stewart a significant edge if you look at the recent recipients of the Naismith, all came from programs with a history of winning. Unfairly or not, this is a huge disadvantage for Zuhui B as apparently there is no strict measure, eg statistics to evaluate and separate the winners from everyone else.

Breanna Stewart as we all know won it last year but she statistically matching her against the likes of Odyssey Sims, Sims was better in major categories, including scoring.

Do you really think that the winner should only come from UCONN as I don't. As I said you can parse statistics whichever way you want to show your preferred player in a favorable light as both you and Art have done in this thread. The award's history shows a great deal of subjectivity to it thus the reason for each of us believing our player is the winner.
