In the SEC, I'd say probably UGA, as usual. Every year is touted as 'this is the year" and most years it isn't. This year they seem to be more of a paper bulldog than usual. And of course Vandy.

You may want to take off those orange colored glasses there. We get that you don't like UGA and Vandy.

I think most honest Georgia fans would tell you that we expected UGA to finish somewhere in the middle of the pack in the SEC. Without a reliable point guard or a first team all-SEC player on the roster, this is where realistic fans would expect the team to be. I'm sure that most also thought that Georgia would lose more than once in the pre-conference schedule. The experts also agreed, not having UGA ranked preseason. On top of that, Georgia was picked to finish sixth in the SEC. With Georgia in a 5-way tie for fourth, I think that is pretty spot on.

Vandy, on the other hand, has been somewhat disappointing. To be fair, I think they've dealt with injuries and I don't think they've had more than one game with their full compliment of players, so a somewhat down season could be explained.

I know there are others who are disappointing, but Wisconsin is a very frustrating team. They have the talent to compete with anyone, but the players lack a decent coaching staff. I was hoping that Kelsey was going to be a good fit here, but it's obvious she wasn't ready to handle a head coaching assignment. I think she's a great recruiter, but Wisconsin needs a coach that can develop our players more effectively. Time to start searching again as far as I'm concerned. And sad Kelsey is not working out.

I'd say a loss to Boston College has earned Duke a spot in the top 5 at least.

More talent than 99%+ of wcbb and 6 losses.

Until there is an AD that is willing to buck the hyper-feminist mob mentality there that says the coach *must* be female, that ain't gonna happen. That's how you got Lisa Stone, and that's how you got Kelsey. HOWEVER.....you must also be aware that Kelsey has only been there 3 years, and there is a rule of thumb that says it takes 3 years to build a team and 7 to build a program. Since there really isn't a commitment by the athletic dept. to WBB, you might as well relax and either enjoy or endure it. Oh, and BTW, I am a UW alum.

I think Duke jumped to the top of the list. Perhaps a few here will think twice about defending Coach McCallie's performance.

It was nice seeing Maine beat a team that Duke lost too. In all honesty it's just nice to see Maine win games again.

There are many disgruntled PMac fans on Duke boards.

Whatever she does on other boards has no relevance here.

I'm sorry but, Duke is not a disappointment to me. They are playing about where I expected. Most of us on here knew from the get go that McCallie is not the coach she has been built up to be. I'm a Tennessee fan but to be honest they are a disappointment to me. Their offence sucks plain and simple. With the players they have imo they should be doing far better. I know they have a pretty good record but like the Georgia game yesterday they had no offence or that is the way I see it.

Are they that much different than usual? I thought that was a pretty typical SEC game. It was about what I've come to expect.

I thought Tenn's offense was reasonably good against Notre Dame, although I'm not sure they can count on shooting 60% from behind the arc every game as an offensive strategy. Their ball movement was the best I've seen all year in that game though.

The ESPN mid-season award writers voted for Michigan State and also considered Duke.

I wonder how they didn't consider Cal, who the AP had #15 preseason and they went as high as #10 before tumbling onto irrelevancy starting with losses to Kansas and LBSU. Two seniors on the team who are potential first rounders. I think ESPNW has been affected by reading this board too much.
