As am I.
I've thought several times of contacting the FSU SID to find out how they accomplished that -- specifically, what NCAA Bylaw they successfully exploited. |
I kind of wish they followed their rules and made her sit out, It would have made that 2018 draft even more bananas. |
I wish they had followed the rules so Arizona State could have gotten to the Elite Eight. Romero came off the bench and killed them in the Sweet Sixteen game.

She killed them , for sure, but I don't get the "came off the bench" part . She started and played 34 minutes .

UNC just got hit with a decommit...Eternati Willock...dunno how good she is but once again, the grim reaper is hanging over this program badly (if that's justified is it's own thread.)

I don't think that's new. I heard it a couple weeks ago.

Taylor Rooks is no longer on the Stanford Roster. The saga of players from Gill St. Bernard's High School continue. (Daisha Simmons being the other high profile player from there.)

I believe this is old news. I thought she transferred to an ivy school. I might be wrong.

Is it? I missed it. Oh. She went to Harvard. Weird. I thought I would have heard that.

Willock didn't meet academic qualification. It had something, I believe to do with academic prep. Similar to Adat Bulgak, another Canadian who didn't meet requirements at UNC and had to go JUCO.

Western Michigan announced a couple of late transfers today. Deborah Meeks is transferring from Kansas State. She has also played at Trinity Valley Community College and at Washington. Interestingly, Western announced that she would be immediately eligible as a fifth year senior. I had thought that immediate eligibility extended only to graduate students.
Asia Robeson was also announced as a transfer from Auburn. She is a sophomore, and must sit out the upcoming season.

Somewhat ironic.

Does anyone know if she is a sit out a year transfer or a grad student ready to go transfer?

I believe that she must sit out a year, as she has only played 3 years, and thus I doubt that she already graduated.

Wow, interesting, wasn't that impressed last year so maybe Sherri wasn't either.

It's UCLA. I guess riding the pine is easier in L.A. Than in Norman.

This one REALLY shocks AND disappoints me. Without any insider info, one can only wonder what went wrong. Nicole had really solid freshman and sophomore seasons. Then....last year? Zero pizzazz/confidence/chutzpah. Unless something (nagging injury? disciplinary problems?) unknown happened, or her practice ethic went sour, I have to blame COALE for this one....how does a kid go from starter to the bench so inexplicably? Coale is known for her development of players, but I've seen her sit on a few that puzzled me to no end.

I was poking around the Texas Tech site to peek at the roster, given all their transfers and the recent Recee Caldwell news. Looks like Taylor Agler is not listed on the roster currently, but the other transfers announced (Jada Terry and her IU teammate Larryn Brooks) are on the roster along with Caldwell.
Anyone know what's up? |
Yeah, REALLY!? When did all this Hoosier crap break? (....and I had no idea Kayla McBride's sister was playing in IN!)

Why would you blame Sherri? She seems pretty level headed to me, her players seem to like her and I have never heard anything negative about her from other coaches.

Sherri is one of The Best in the business, imo. It's not so much about *blaming* her as it is about her being a Contributing Cause (?). I mean, it's just ODD: Kornet progressed nicely from the start-averaged 14 min/game (played in every game) as a freshman to starting in more than half of their games, as a sophomore (again, playing in every game), then....starting in 2 games as a Junior?
And she still had *game*.... she had 21 points in the game vs. Kentucky....a game which OK lost in overtime, DUE TO A TECHNICAL CALLED ON Kornet in the final seconds (they had the lead, someone fouled her, and the ref said she 'slammed' the ball, so KY got FTs, tied the game and went on to win) I vividly remember that it was IMMEDIATELY afterward that Kornet was in Coale's doghouse. I mean, it was a HUGE game (OK probably would have made it into the top 10 at that point, had they won), and it was a stupid mistake, but....Really? And now she doesn't even go into her senior year? Questions galore. That's my impression, not a 'fact'.
There's also Felicia Gibbs....anyone remember her? I thought she looked like she had REALLY good potential, the few minutes she played....but all throughout her first year, Felicia hardly ever got in. Even in 30 pt blowouts, Gibbs rode the bench. She didn't come back. I mean, if the kid did some kinda shit to be in the doghouse, that's one thing, but there was never any talk about it.
And there's been several others, in recent years: Jenny Vining, Katherine Zander, and LSU's standout, DaShawn Harden. Maybe some for reasons beyond Coale's control, but....ALL of 'em? Kornet is just a head-scratcher.

Mercedes Jefflo, who would have been a junior in 15/16 was dismissed from Cal WBB
Cal Athletics statement on Women's Basketball's Mercedes Jefflo:
Mercedes Jefflo has been dismissed from the California Women's Basketball team. We cannot comment further on this situation at this time due to FERPA laws protecting students' rights. The well-being of our students is of paramount importance to us. We care deeply about Mercedes and wish her well.

Jefflo was Cal's 3rd leading scorer behind Boyd and Gray, both who graduated and were in the WNBA this season.
