As (probably) the lone WAC fan posting to this board, here's another New Mexico State-oriented question:

NMSU began the year 0-5 in non-conference play, fell to as low as #346 RPI but today won its 20th game after clinching the WAC title last week (13-1 in league). RPI has jumped 200 places or so depending on which one you read (NCAA is #122 or thereabouts). The two losses were by five at a neutral site against a decent UOP team and by four at WAC runner-up Bakersfield (undefeated at home dating back to last season) when the Aggies were shorthanded.

Anyone recall a team that looked headed for disaster that straightened it out in this kind of fashion?

I just remember the 1995-96 UT Lady Vols that won the NCAA Championship with 10 losses on the season (can't call up the entire record at the moment, memory ain't what it used to be, mine or this old computer's).
