Because I'm a jerk, I decided to created my competing Field of 64 using my own original recipe of 11 herbs & spices.
I didn't move any teams around, I just listed my top 64 in order.
Last 4 teams in: Middle Tennessee, Miami (FL), Purdue, California
First 4 teams out: Michigan, Iowa St, USC, Youngstown St
A-10: 2
AAC: 3
ACC: 7
Big 12: 3
Big East: 2
Big Ten: 8
Conf USA: 2
PAC-12: 6
SEC: 8 |
Wow! UW as a 4 seed above Oregon State. As a Husky fan, I love it, but Oregon State is scary, they're just a massive team and I think OSU is going to win the conference this year. Washington & ASU will make a lot of noise, but I don't think either matches up well with the Beavs and OSU's size and perimeter talent will keep them from any significant losing spells.

If you think that Oklahoma is a 10 seed, you are truly delusional.

Of course, as these were from games as of last Sunday, so Oklahoma beating up Texas wasn't factored in yet.

I look at George Washington's results, and their best wins are teams Minnesota has also beaten, and they did it at a holiday tournament. Some teams are known to not play well in holiday tournaments. Something to consider. GW's losses are also very similar, although I'd rate Vandy better than FGCU. How is GW a 3 seed? Is it because their schedule is relatively cake the rest of the way? I don't see them as a 3 seed.
FGCU has lost to the best teams they've played, which were Auburn and Ohio St, and they have no impressive wins that I can see. What's going on here? Mid major hysteria?

My formula doesn't count the rest of the season, like pilight's does, but it still uses win and losses against teams of certain RPIs:
As of last Sunday's games FGCU had #15 RPI and beat #17 George Washington, #37 Quinnipiac & #42 Wichita State for 1 Top 25 Win and 2 Top 26-50 wins (but they lost to #113 Auburn)
George Washing had #17 RPI and beat #18 Dayton, #30 Fresno St & #40 Purdue for 1 Top 25 Win and 2 Top 26-50 wins as well along with no bad losses.
Minnesota only had 1 Top 25 Win (Nebraska) and 1 Top 26-50 win (Purdue), but as of now, they have 0 Top 25 Wins and 3 Top 26-50 wins (Nebraska, Ohio St, NC State) since Nebraska now has RPI 28 and Purdue is barely out of the Top 50.
