Usually the board will find a way to crash during draft night--which is annoying; however, there is not much to do, and everyone does a good job of reminding who's up. Myrtle, you're too kind to say that I was a good moderator--I just wanted to speed things along as much as possible last year.
I'd say that you just have to be patient with the draft, and be prepared for the unexpected. Such as me getting Chiney in the first draft, but then we had to restart, so I didn't get Chiney.

I'll do the drawing this weekend and announce the draft order on Sunday night so everyone will have a few weeks to figure out their draft strategies.

Well, I'd think forewarnings are in order. I'll be drafting Breanna and Jewell for my team (along with Misses Banham and Alleyne) so everybody else just....look elsewhere.

if someone stupidly picks somebody who has graduated or that has been picked by someone else, do they just lose that pick?

Then Howee will come in and invoke his god-given right to the players that you've drafted and end up with Stewart, Lloyd, and Banham on his team.

Most years, I kind of like being in the middle, but this one, I was hoping for 1,2,3 or 8,9,10. So of course it would be #5. So for our newbies, know that the end of the round is not necessarily the worst spot - you get to take two picks relatively close together which means you have a better chance at pairing them so they complement each other better. And in this draft, there are a boatload of players who are statistically not that far apart so you will still get good players.
However, Howee at your position, I think you'd better adopt a plan B!

Fine, Myrtle. I just know you conspired with GEF to give me that nastiest of spots as part of my *rookie hazing*. Ha! My only "Plan B" would be to stamp my foot, quit and go home. But that's not my style. So. I shall simply put together the best, most efficient team of kids you never dreamed of.

I am heartbroken that you would think I would be involved in such a nefarious scheme. But that is why GEF did the drawing - as everyone should know GEF is clearly above reproach!

I see how it is. After stating that I don't know who I would pick at no. 1, I get the number one pick. Thanks, o cruel draft gods.

#1 is easy. They go to UConn.
#3 is where I get stuck. Would they also go to UConn?
My fav fantasy team will be the one who takes a chance on freshman Carlie Wagner.

The conundrum is that the best players are not necessarily the best statistical players.

Exactly.
Just because Stewart can outclass a player like Jasmine Newsome or Damika Martinez head to head doesn't mean that Stewart is better than them for this league. UConn has great players, but because their talent is typically spread out, you won't get the stat stuffers that some of the Mid-Majors or other Majors have.

as usual, I'm behind on everything
did we decide to start 10 players? 3G-3F-3U-1C? cuz I'm having a problem coming up with 100 players!

By the time you're done with this game, you'll know more about mid-major basketball than you ever really wanted to know.

Plus it's 130 players! Because you're going to play all of 'em - just not on the same day! It's true - you need to be looking at some mid-majors to fill in your lineup, and some of them are really good stat stuffers. Just don't take the ones I want!

When you get to 100 you're just getting started...
