Yes, all the stats for your 9 players count. Woohoo, lots of stats! |
Maybe I'm just not comprehending something, but....ALL stats on ALL 9 players for each and every game they play? How in all of God's Creation do you find TIME to follow each player so closely? And one must compile their own statistics, totals, etc.? I cannot fathom the TIME involved in this. Or am I misunderstanding?? I'd think Pilight Himself would run from this! |
Silly me! I do all the stats. It's semi-automated thanks to Pasteurize who made an Excel script for me a couple of years ago and to Matt who created a spreadsheet to do the team comparisons even before that. But I have to massage it a little and move the data around so it takes me about 30 minutes twice a week or so.
All YOU have to do is post which players (up to nine) are playing every day. Most of us create a spreadsheet with the schedules of our players on it at the beginning of the year, which takes a little time to set up, but which then makes it easy to post lineups. Some people then post lineups for a whole month in advance. Theoretically you could post for the whole year, then not bother again...but if injuries happen, you'd probably like to be able to manipulate your lineup a bit.
Realistically I think it takes about three hours for the draft and a couple of hours to set up a spreadsheet with your players' schedules. After that you could probably spend as little as 20 minutes/week on it. If you're crazy like me you will spend more time agonizing over performances and who might be better than what you already have, etc... but that part is optional. And all along the way, you get jibe and have fun with your competitors!

ok we're almost all accounted for (hmm, is Queenie forsaking us?) so perhaps we can all vote on the potential rule changes? When we have a quorem, so it will be.
please make it succinct so we don't have to guess what your vote really is:
1) 9 or 10 active players per day?
2) include or exclude fouls
3) 2 or 3 roster changes per week.
If other changes come up we can vote on them separately.
While I understand the wish to change and don't feel strongly about it, I guess my vote is to keep the status quo so,
1) 9
2) include
3) 3 roster changes.

It really isn't time consuming at all. After the draft, I generally lay out my roster for the week each Sunday morning. If you draft players from your favorite teams, you already know when they are playing anyway.
The best part is going to a game and cheering on a particular play. A couple of years ago I had half the MT Lady Raider squad. So when Icelyn Elie grabbed a rebound, passed out to Kortni Jones on the break who then fed the trailing Ebony Rowe, I simultaneously cheered for the great play while calculating all the points I just got.

ok I think we have enough votes in for it to be clear.
we will go to a daily 10 player lineup with 3 guards, 3 forwards, 3 utilities, and 1 center.
Fouls will no longer be a factor and the transactions stay as they are at 3.
Now, I have something else to think about. In the W game we exclude fouls but include threes made. Do people have a thought about adding threes made as a category. My thinking is that taking fouls out highly benefits the big players since historically they are the ones who get into foul trouble and that adding threes made helps to balance it back out.

Those sound good to me.
And I vote to count made 3s.

3PM instead of 3PT%, or nah?
In any event, I vote Yes on 3

3pm in addition to 3%, [not instead] and I think that proposal has now carried.

So next thing is setting a date for the draft. Thinking that if we plan ahead it will make it easier? I will throw one out for consideration and you all can say yea or nay and if nay, please post better days/times that work for you.
My thought was Sunday Nov 9 at 7 pm Eastern.

I can make either work.
Now, to start figuring out who I want to draft. Time to start hitting the research trail!
