Any team featuring Stewie has an automatic advantage, but mine:
MoJeff
T. Mitchell
Tabatha
Gardner or Cady
VMAC
would give it a go. And if I need more scoring, Martinez or Minato off the bench can fill it up. Those Miracles ain't too shabby!

final stats are up: http://rebfanbball.altervista.org/
I'm a bit embarrassed about how good those Miracles did. but what could I do - that they over-performed from the beginning.
Thanks everybody (even Howee) for having some fun with this. Hopefully we can do it again next year. |
To think that I scored more than your winning team from last year, and still lost.
That being said, there were a bunch more points available this year--with an additional player, along with the same number of categories.
Fantasy League Records: (From Last Two Seasons)
Points: Newkid (6,467) Outpaced the Miracles and Cardinal this season.
FG%: HappyCappie (48.5%) FG shooting seemed to be up this season with 5 of 9 teams shooting better than the best place team last year.
FGM: Cardinal (2351) Purely added this category because I won it.
3PM: Myrtle (552)
3FG%: Myrtle (40.06%) 3 Teams Shot better this year than the Miracles' league Leading 36% last year.
FT%: Miracles (79.55%) Obviously, if you want to dethrone the Miracles you have to shoot nearly 80% in FT, cause Myrtle has averaged hit 79% each of the last two seasons.
Assists: Newkid (1243) I see that Newkid and I had similar stats last year to this year.
TO: Newkid (1176) With many assists, come many turnovers.
Steals: Myrtle (843) Steals were way down this year, interesting.
Blocks: Myrtle (475) Okay, keep bragging about VMAC.
Trends: Steals were way down, but field goal shooting seemed to be up. I could go into further detail, but I just thought it was interesting to note that.

I think stealers are unique players. Usually if they are good stealers they are terrible in at least two other categories, and usually more. So finding someone who gets steals but doesn't kill you elsewhere is difficult.
If tbinta's players hadn't stopped playing at the end of the season, she would easily have won the steals category, but not only Bradford disappeared, the player she replaced her with also didn't play.
FTs is one of my pet peeves - it just aggravates me more than other failings. Can't make your FTs then it's hard to be on my team.
It's funny- at the beginning of the year, I thought my team would struggle with 2% and rebounds. My beginning list just had a whole lot of guards and not many bigs. As good as Cady and Gardner have been, they are actually - in my numerical system - at the bottom of the list as far as my regulars went, but I couldn't give them up because I couldn't find better forwards...and they gave us those elusive 2% and rebounds. Of course VMAC helped a whole lot because she got pts, rebs, and blocks - all areas in which we needed help. I actually looked at her preseason, but since their first two games were Baylor and Tennessee [hello] couldn't pull that trigger until she proved herself. Talk about a big fish in a small pond!
Anyway, as always it was fun, and I love how it makes me look closely at all kinds of players I would otherwise not even know they existed.
Thanks again.

ALL IS RIGHT IN THE WORLD!!!!
Thanks for doing this Myrtle! Fun as always! |
Yes, Kudos to Myrtlicious for her daunting perseverance. ANDDD--you should thank her....for saving your Butt, Lynxie: I just know she *fiddled* something to get you out of buying me that damned drink at a Lynx game.
HOWEVERRRR.....
Given that, in this sport we love (i.e., "real" basketball) it's the final score that matters, not FT %, etc.---I take great consolation in knowing that, the team I was coaching BEAT Lynxmania's:
Final Points: Lynxmania--5236 vs. Howee--5478. (hey! If it's really *fantasy*, then just let me have mine!)
[Note: you were safe anyways--I wasn't planning any trips to MN this year, anyhow! ]
The Real, Biggest perk in all this, imo? As Myrtle noted for herself--I really enjoyed getting to know MANY players (and teams) I never might have come to even know about, never mind genuinely appreciate! I've become a Big Ten fan through all of this.
