Nov. 14 (Fri.) vs. Boston College
The season opener against Boston College (12-19, 3-13 ACC) also represents the lone doubleheader on the schedule, with the men’s team opening up against Wofford. It’s the second straight year Stanford will be kicking things off against Boston College after collecting an 83-71 victory in Chestnut Hill, Mass., last season. Seeking its first NCAA Tournament showing since 2006, the Golden Eagles are paced by Kelly Hughes (11.2 ppg).

Nov. 17 (Mon.) vs. Connecticut
One of the sport’s greatest rivalries, Stanford and two-time defending national champion Connecticut (40-0, 18-0 American Athletic) have met 10 times over the past seven seasons with four of those matchups occurring at the NCAA Final Four. In one of the most significant moments in college basketball history, the Cardinal ended Connecticut’s NCAA-record 90-game winning streak in front of a packed Maples Pavilion on Dec. 30, 2010, as Jeanette Pohlen produced 31 points, nine rebounds and six assists in Stanford’s 71-59 victory. This will be the earliest Connecticut has ever visited Maples Pavilion.

Nov. 20 (Thu.) vs. Texas
Three days after taking on the defending NCAA champs, the schedule doesn’t get any easier as Stanford welcomes Texas (22-12, 11-7 Big 12) to The Farm. The Longhorns are a perennial force in the postseason, having advanced to 29 NCAA Tournaments, including the second round of last year’s event. Third-year head coach Karen Aston returns her leading scorer, Nneka Enemkpali (12.0 ppg), although nearly 40.0 percent of the team’s scoring in 2013-14 came from the bench.

Nov. 24 (Mon.) at New Mexico
Stanford’s first true road game of the year is a trip to The Pit, squaring off against New Mexico (11-19, 6-12 Mountain West). The Lobos were hit hard by injuries last year but will get a boost with the return of leading scorers Antiesha Brown (14.3 ppg) and Khadijah Shumpert (10.9 ppg). New Mexico has qualified for eight NCAA Tournaments while capturing five conference tournament titles and two regular-season crowns.

Nov. 28 (Fri.) vs. North Carolina
Nov. 29 (Sat.) at Hawai’i
Nov. 30 (Sun.) vs. Prairie View A&M
The Cardinal will spend its Thanksgiving in Honolulu, participating in the Waikiki Beach Marriott Rainbow Wahine Showdown. Stanford will face three opponents (North Carolina, Hawai’i, Prairie View A&M) over a span of three days. The islands have become a familiar preseason destination for Stanford, which stunned No. 1 Baylor in the Jack in the Box Rainbow Wahine Classic two years ago in Honolulu. The tournament’s lid-lifter features what should be a challenging contest against North Carolina (27-10, 10-6 ACC), signaling a rematch of last year’s NCAA Regional final won 74-65 by Stanford at Maples Pavilion. Stanford then plays host Hawai’i (17-14, 10-6 Big West), an opponent Stanford is perfect against in eight attempts. The final comes against Prairie View A&M (14-18, 11-7 SWAC), which reached the NCAA Tournament last year thanks to single-season scoring champ Jeanette Jackson (18.8 ppg).

Dec. 14 (Sun.) vs. Santa Clara
Following its extended finals break, Stanford returns to Maples Pavilion for a matchup against Santa Clara (10-20, 6-11 WCC). The Broncos, guided by first-year head coach JR Payne, will be making their first appearance at Maples Pavilion since Nov. 29, 2006. It’s the first of three December home games for Stanford, which owns a 28-4 edge in the all-time series.

Dec. 17 (Wed.) at Chattanooga
Dec. 20 (Sat.) at Tennessee
A difficult road trip follows, with Stanford visiting Chattanooga (29-4, 18-0 Southern) and Tennessee (29-6, 13-3 SEC) in a swing that will prepare the Cardinal for the postseason. Chattanooga entered last year’s NCAA Tournament riding a 25-game winning streak before giving Syracuse all it could handle in a 59-53 loss. Three days later, Stanford resumes its storied rivalry with Tennessee (29-6, 13-3 SEC), an NCAA Sweet 16 participant one year ago. Stanford emerged with a 76-70 victory in last year’s meeting, fueled by Chiney Ogwumike’s 32-point, 20-rebound effort and Amber Orrange’s clutch three-point play to ice the game.

Dec. 22 (Mon.) vs. UC Davis
Dec. 28 (Sun.) vs. UC Santa Barbara
The holiday break is sandwiched between a pair of Big West opponents visiting Maples Pavilion. Up first is UC Davis (15-16, 9-7 Big West), a foe Stanford has faced seven times since 2007. The tune-up for Pac-12 play comes against UC Santa Barbara (8-22, 3-14 Big West), a series that is being renewed for the first time since 2009. Stanford will look to close out its non-conference slate strong, coming off a 2013-14 campaign in which it won 11 of its 12 non-league games.

Jan. 3-5 (Sat.-Mon.) vs. Colorado/Utah
Just like last year, Stanford will face Colorado (19-15, 6-12 Pac-12) and Utah (12-19, 4-14 Pac-12) early and then won’t see either until the Pac-12 Tournament (maybe). Last season, the Cardinal embarked on its mountain road swing during the second week of the season. It’s the only time Stanford will face Colorado and Utah, as the schools face off only once in the current Pac-12 rotation.

Jan. 9-11 (Fri.-Sun.) at Washington/Washington State
Stanford’s first road trip is to the Pacific Northwest, where there will be some extra incentive against Washington (20-14, 10-8 Pac-12). The Huskies handed the Cardinal its only conference loss of the season in 2013-14, prevailing 87-82 in Seattle. Stanford improved to 57-0 all-time against Washington State (17-17, 9-9 Pac-12) last year by sweeping the season series.

Jan. 16-18 (Fri.-Sun.) vs. Arizona/Arizona State
Arizona (5-25, 1-17 Pac-12) and Arizona State (23-10, 11-7 Pac-12) visit The Farm in mid-January this season. Defense was the key in Stanford sweeping its homestand against the Arizona schools last year, beating the Sun Devils 61-35 and the Wildcats 74-48. During the homestand, Stanford allowed just 27.5 percent shooting overall and surrendered only one three-pointer in 17 attempts.

Jan. 23-25 (Fri.-Sun.) at UCLA/USC
The Southern California road swing takes place in late January, as Stanford visits UCLA (13-18, 7-11 Pac-12) and USC (22-13, 11-7 Pac-12). The Cardinal swept this road trip last year, edging USC 64-59 before defeating UCLA 65-56. The Women of Troy upset Stanford in the semifinals of the Pac-12 Tournament and ultimately defeated Oregon State to capture the crown and qualify for the NCAA Tournament.

Jan. 30-Feb. 1 (Fri.-Sun.) vs. Washington/Washington State
The second half of Pac-12 play begins with Stanford hosting the Washington schools at Maples Pavilion. Washington is looking for its first win at Maples Pavilion since Feb. 18, 1999. Washington State’s trip to The Farm last year coincided with Senior Day, and Chiney Ogwumike seized the moment with a 37-point, 13-rebound performance against the Cougars.

Feb. 6-8 (Fri.-Sun.) at Arizona/Arizona State
This is one of three road trips on tap for Stanford over the season’s final four weeks. The Cardinal has enjoyed recent success against this pairing, especially in the desert. Stanford leads the all-time series against Arizona 60-12 and has won 24 in a row against the Wildcats entering the 2014-15 campaign. Stanford holds a 56-11 edge against Arizona State, winning 16 consecutive contests.

Feb. 13-15 (Fri.-Sun.) vs. UCLA/USC
The only homestand during the month of February brings UCLA and USC to Maples Pavilion. Stanford swept its homestand against the Southern California schools last year. The contest against defending Pac-12 Tournament champion USC figures to be a tough ticket, as the Women of Troy should be battling for a spot near the top of the conference standings.

Feb. 20-22 (Fri.-Sun.) vs. California/at California
The latest chapters in the Battle of the Bay series take place over a span of three days in late February. For the third straight year, Stanford and California will be facing off in the same week. The Cardinal swept last year’s season series, winning 70-64 at home before turning around and collecting a 79-64 victory at Haas Pavilion three days later.

Feb. 26-28 (Thu.-Sat.) at Oregon/Oregon State
Stanford visits Oregon (16-16, 6-12 Pac-12) and Oregon State (24-11, 13-5 Pac-12) to conclude the regular season. It’s the only time the Cardinal will play the Ducks and Beavers, with those two schools skipping the Bay Area trip in 2014-15. This is the first time Stanford will have completed the Pac-12 regular season before March since the 2006-07 campaign.

March 5-8 (Thu.-Sat.) Pac-12 Tournament
Seattle is once again the destination for the Pac-12 Tournament, which gets underway March 5 with first-round contests. This will be the third go-around at Key Arena since the conference’s final event at the Staples Center in Los Angeles in 2012. Prior to last year’s semifinal loss, Stanford had advanced to the tournament final in every season, winning 11 of the 13 events.

Yeah, looks pretty good, and while there is no control over in conference, the conference looks stronger, so keeping OOC strong at the same time deserves kudos.
