great get for the Lady Vols, I just hope she develops there, can't remember the last highly regarded HS guard that went on to become a good pro out of UT. Question

A really good recruit for UTK -- a sort of John the Baptist figure. The greater one, the coruscating Diamond, is sure to follow soon. Holly maintains herself among the top 7 recruiting coaches.

Lawson probably although i think Stricklen has found a spot on a team that suits her.

Could this mean Diamond will follow?

Cooper is very good. She's a quality point guard who can score.

Does that make UConn the platinum standard?

I wonder how she and Massengale will work together.

I still don't understand why any player would go to Tennessee with the lack of player development they have but it's whatever. She's happy, and that's what's important.

Massengale is a senior this year. Cooper comes in next year.

I know. Whats going on. There are very few Tennessee players that are sticking and making an impact in the WNBA now a days.

Look at Simmons. Tons of potential but no one at Tennessee developed her game for the future.

But is there THAT MUCH great player development going on at UConn? Most of their players go in a big time stars and leave as big time stars. I mean yes Tina Charles went in a bit rough but was there any doubt that she'd be a superstar by the time she graduated? There was no player development with Bird, Taurasi, Moore ect. They all went in already being stellar.

And LOT'S of players graduated from UConn and either didn't get drafted or totally fizzled out in the pro's as well.

Maybe player development isn't quite as good in Tennessee as it is in Connecticut but both schools have produced it's share of pro duds.

I think the point is that some UConn grads do improve in their four years. I'm not sure any do at Tennessee.

I hope CHW, Law and Co. can help the ladies improve their game. I'm excited to see what Tennessee does these next few years with this talent. I hope we get Diamond and Robinson as well. Durr would also be a great addition, but we're loaded at guard so I wouldn't be surprised to see her elsewhere. Although seeing Graves regress and the lack of progression from Russell, Burdick, Jones and a few others last season was tough, I'll still hold out hope that we'll be back as title contenders sooner, rather than later.

14-15
G-Carter
G-Massengale
G-Middleton
G-Reynolds
G/F-Dunbar
G/F-Tucker
F-Burdick
F-Jones
F-Nared
F-Graves
F-Moore
C-Harrison
C-Russell

15-16 (My Wishes in BOLD)
G-Carter
G-Cooper
G-Asia Durr
G-Middleton
G-Reynolds
G/F-Diamond DeShields
G/F-Dunbar
G/F-Tucker
G/F-Jackson
F-Jones
F-Nared
F-Graves
F-Caliya Robinson
F-Moore
C-Russell

If we could get all the Georgia stars to come along with Cooper (DeShields, Durr and Robinson) I would be ecstatic. However, I'd take any of those three because they're all great. Heard Kalani Brown was still interested, but if I get my wish idk if we would have any scholarships left.

Dolson improved leaps and bounds. Though, if you take out HoopGurlz ratings, all the other recruiting services had her in the Top 20 (she was a McD AA in HS), so its not like he turned a scrub into an AA. Same with Faris and Stokes. HG (the old one) tend to rate them lower than other services...hmmmm

I do agree, some people tend to over exaggerate how great he is at producing stars. He's a great recruiter (and a great coach). Maya Moore, Breanna Stewert, etc are going to be stars regardless of where they go (Elena Delle Donne, Jackie Stiles). I personally think Muffet is on par with Geno. She just isn't as good of a recruiter/doesn't get the talent. The ND team with Skylar (Peters, McBride, etc) still had less talent than UConn when they beat them a few years back.

Then again, Tenn (and Duke) gets all these highly touted recruits, and they don't seem to improve. So, obviously coaching/player development is seemingly better at UConn. But I don't think its that much better than say at ND or Stanford. The stars will be stars (Nneka, Chiney, Skylar (maybe?))...and I bet Loyd will be a star in the WNBA too.

being reported that Cooper will not be with the U17 team due to illness. She is being replaced by alternate Sabrina Ionescu.

Apparently Cooper, who rebounded from not making the team last year in a surprising cut to getting the job done this year, has tonsillitis.

Very sad for her, but Ionescu's alternate role turned out to earn her another USA Basketball gig.

Also still up in the air somewhat is the status of Katie Lou Samuelson's ankle.

I'm a tad shocked that nobody's discussed Diamond's recent selection of TN (not that it's all that shocking, but still....)
