Xavier has no one to blame but itself. Four missed free throws and two blown wide open layups in the last few minutes.

I disagree. The teams that deserved to win tonight DID.

Eventhough Stanford won, the tough defense of Xavier shows you the weakness of Stanford. Tough defense always rattles them.

Not based on how the games played out in my opinion. Both teams that lost choked.

Jayne has got to rock in the FF, and I think she knows it.

Running a full court defense with 4 seconds left is a really dubious decision. Pressing a ballhandler with one or two defenders - fine. Full-court man-to-man press? Dodgy.

And to think he called a brilliant play at the other end moments earlier.

That's because two teams played composed all the way down to the final buzzer while the other two teams lost their cool. The composed teams moved on while the misguided teams are headed home.

Agreed mikey.

Forget UConn. Stanford won't beat Kentucky or Oklahoma playing like this. They deserved to lose and were fortunate that Xavier gave it to them.

Well let's hope that game was a wake up call to Stanford. Pohlen sure redeemed her terrible game with an amazing amazing play. Did I say amazing?

I can't help but feel for the Xavier girl though. What a burden to bear.

Wow! That was a crazy finish. Here's hoping that Stanford learns something about close games from this.

I'm so glad Stanford won, and part of me is happy Jeanette Pohlen made the game winning play. That might have to do with her being from Brea. Wink

GO Stanford!!

Well I like Stanford's 4 second play better than Notre Dame's!

Brilliant. Pohlen clearly got it off in time. Gotta stop the ball.

I thought Xavier's emotions just got the better of them, you can tell they realized what they were about to accomplish.

First off - the Stanford ladies need a sense of urgency to score the basketball before they get down to that point.

The problem all game long is that I don't think that they put in the effort to make athletic plays at the rim and instead settled for basic post moves and set three pointers. They need to get movement on offense that will allow them to attack the basket. When they do that, they are successful. See Pohlen's big drive and dish to Kayla and Tinkle's running hook. This team is so much better when they aren't affixed to the triangle. We aren't surprising anyone anymore and we don't have Wiggins to break things down at will any longer.

Second off - it feels damn good to be on this side of a play like this. Miserable for Xavier, who has some serious talent, but I am a Stanford fan, and we are in our third consecutive Final Four, and it feels so good!

That's my girl jp!!!!!!!!

I'll be the first to admit I underestimated Xavier, but Stanford certainly didn't play like they're capable tonight either.

Wouldve been nice to see what the game wouldve been like if the players had played, not the officials.

I thought they did a pretty good job executing under pressure for a team that's not used to it.

I almost forgot about Tinkle Shocked Biggest shot of her life so far I bet.

Tinkle's running hook was a big time shot. Is she a freshman?

I meant to add, hopefully the card will learn from this and go to San Antonio stronger.

After that run for their money that X just gave Stanford, Stanford doesn't have a chance against Ucon. Dam, X really out played them. I couldn't believe those 2 missed chippies. That second one would have gone in had she not thrown it up so far and taken her time. What a disappointing finish for X. Lots of posters here said Stanford was going to blow them out, didn't happen. Missed TWO WIDE OPEN SHOTS Shocked !
