Tied 30-30 at the half

Good game.

Nadirah McKennith? Shocked now that's a player.

shenneika smith just went down holding her knee with bout 17 minutes left. they're working on her in the aisle though, didn't take her back into the locker room or anything, so hopefully it's not too serious.

Abby Waner's pronoun use aside, there are cases to be made on both sides. If you're a weak rebounding team, or weaker than your opponent, you may not want to foul because there is a stronger chance of getting an offensive rebound. The Mississippi State men lost an NCAA Tourney berth this year because they tried that tactic in the SEC Championship Game, Kentucky got the offensive rebound of the deliberate miss of the second free throw and scored a putback at the horn to force OT, where they won the game.

Speaking of Waner, she is gorgeous. Very Happy

i know this one's gone back and forth, but i really felt like st john's had this game in regulation. now, not so confident. wish mckenith had tried to drive with at the end of regulation.

I am letting my bracket affect my enjoyment of the games which is ridiculous. It is not like it is for money and not like I won't finish towards the bottom.

However, if I didn't have the bracket, I believe I would be conflicted. I just tuned in and now I don't want to see either team lose. Then, too, I have read Queenie's posts and know she is for SJ'S and I haven't seen anyone post about FSU, so that sways me towards SJ'S. However, you have to look at the two coaches and they ar both cute. I am still conflicted and the game just ended.

Damn. Good try, St. John's. They'll be back and even better next year - they're young and have lots of talent on that team.

Such a tough loss for St. John's, but they've earned all the respect in the world for the fight they put up in that game. Congrats to Florida St.

(And on a personal note, darn for losing my first E8 team!)

That was a tough loss for St. John's, but I can't wait to watch them next year. Such an exciting young team.

total cosign. they may not have won that game but they definitely earned much respect with that performance. outplayed and outhustled fsu, imo, despite being outsized.

oh, and smith, catch the ball, then make your move!

but really, still, great performance by the johnnies overall.

I'm holding in the couple of tears that are threatening to fall, but I can't complain. We had our shots, we took our shots, we missed our shots. Shenneika getting hurt didn't help, and neither did Da'Shena's cramps, but it is what it is. We were a #6, and we took a #3 to overtime on their home floor, when we've not been a good road team. It hurts like hell. I won't deny that. And I nearly ran over Happycappie to get to the computer so I wouldn't have to watch Florida State celebrating. But it was a hell of a game. We put up a hell of a fight.

And even though we didn't win this one, I think everyone knows who we are now. We're not going away. We're not fading out this time. We'll be back, and we'll be smarter, faster, stronger, more seasoned, steadier, and hopefully better hydrated. Da'Shena will only be a junior. Shenneika and Nadirah will only be sophomores. Buzz will step right into Kelly's shoes. I worry about leadership and height, but I have faith in these kids.

And I'm thinking that a LOT more people know who Nadirah McKenith is tonight than did yesterday.
