Quote:
Mighty UConn (35-1) is looking to avoid the longest Final Four drought since becoming a major player in the sport in the early 1990s. Twice before the Huskies went three years between national semifinal appearances (1992-94 and 1997-99), and the Huskies haven’t made it to the tournament’s third weekend since winning their third straight national title in 2004.

“Our team is completely different. I feel like we’re a lot more confident, a lot more prepared than we were the past years,” Montgomery said. “We’ve done that the whole season, and not like the previous years where we waited to the end of the season to start trying to pull things together, or waited for the NCAA tournament to try to be that team. This year, I think we’ve worked from the preseason on to try to prepare ourselves for this stage.”

Totally random question: Does anyone know why Geno no longer wears ties?

It's the coming fahion. He talked it over with his wife, and apparently there's an NBA coach who doesn't wear ties. Also, Horatio Caine never wears a tie. So Geno has decided not to wear one-- it's always loose and hanging down his chest ten minutes into the game anyway.

Here is Jeff Jacobs' column from today's Hartford Courant, theme being that, at least recently, the drama of the UConn-Rutgers rivalry can't be beat.

So how much "trash-messaging" do you think is going on between Diana and Cappie right about now? Laughing

I can't lose in this one. If UConn advances, my bracket is intact. If RU advances, I'll be happy, too.

That's always the best! Pick the team you hate because either they lose and you're thrilled or they win and you're the most intelligent self-loathing basketball fan alive!

The real trash-messaging will come after the game.

I have to root for UConn here. Just the thought of a Rutgers-LSU final makes me ill.

If my UConn wasn't still in it...I'd be cheering for CVS and RU to win it all.

However....I'm going to say UConn by 17. Prince pretty much gets shut down again.

Besides UConn being the one I chose in my bracket, I feel the exact same way...I don't know why...it just doesn't seem right.

I don't think I could handle a final score in the 30s.

I think everybody wants to see UConn-Tennessee in the finals. I really hope that happens.

I'd prefer Stanford/Texas A&M myself.

Well, other than the Rutgers fans, and the Texas A&M fans, and the LSU fans, and the Stanford fans… oh, and the fans who are sick to death of UConn-Tennessee being shoved down their throats because they're the only two teams that matter.

Man I love me some Vivian Stringer and all the Rutgers players, so I'm partial to them. But I so enjoy watching Maya Moore play. And I agree it would def be interesting to see a TN vs. UCONN final.

But either one winning tonight will be ok with me. Long as the other team in the final is TN. Smile
