Imagine how good this team could be if it had a head coach who had a friggin clue how to coach offense, 700+ wins be damned.

I don't see how anyone can pick them to beat UConn on Tuesday.

I think RU plays down/up to their opponent. While I wouldn't favor them against UConn, I don't think it's impossible.

I really like GW, and it was good to see them make it a game.

Good lawd, I hope Beck is OK. They sure re-ran the tape of her head being crushed a lot.

I was expecting Rutgers to look better. I don't see them beating UConn.

Yeah I saw that, but she might need stitches.

Whew!

Thank goodness for Essence Carson.

Now on to the Thrilla in Manilla.

I agree with that, and I'm not so sure why people aren't giving Rutgers a chance based on what we've seen today (I'll admit that I thought a UConn/RU Elite 8 would've been a rout two weeks ago). Rutgers' defense was able to turn a decent jump-shooting team in GW into an awful one. They mix up zone, man, trap, and junk defenses better than any team in the country. They will be ready. Tired, but ready.

Speaking of zone, did anyone take a look at UConn's [3-point] shooting from the ODU game? Here are the stats of the perimeter players:

Moore: 10-20, 3-10 3-point
Montgomery: 4-14, 1-8 3-point
Swanier: 2-5, 0-1 3-point

No other Husky even attempted a 3-point shot.

What does this all mean? Rutgers has a chance. Very slim? Yes, but a chance nonetheless.

Rutgers always has a chance against UConn. They know UConn well, and Prince/Ray/Ajavon will be fits for the Dixon/Monty/Swanier trio.

It should be a good game, and I won't be surprised at all if Rutgers wins. At least a Big East team will be going to the Final Four.

Just wish that the selection committee could've found it within themselves to give each of them the chance to do so in separate brackets, but c'est la vie.

See you on Tuesday, Rutgers Smile . May the best Big East team win Wink

Thank all the kind and merciful gods that all Beck got was her chin ground into the floor. Considering where Kia came down, I was freaking out that there'd be some kind of spinal fuckup.

I… don't think Essence wants to lose this tournament, do you?

That was S.C.A.R.Y. they'd better x-ray every bone in Beck's body to make sure she's OK. I thought she was going to at least have some cracked ribs or something...

Only because of the defense, which is great. Totally agree about the offense. Rutgers is lucky it gets such talented shooters. They get little help from the offensive sets and have to make difficult shots to break 50 against a good defense.

Well, I just watched the game this morning. I'm out of town on a mini vacation, and spent yesterday at the Sony Ericsson Open watching tennis instead of staying home and watching basketball. First off congrats to Rutgers. I was certain they would beat GW again, and they did, mostly thanks to Essence Carson, who had a phenomenal game.

For a while there in the first half, I thought I was watching a replay of the game from earlier this year at the Smith Center. In that game, GW went something like 10 minutes without scoring and shot like 22% for the game, and the first half of this one was like deja vu. So I was pleasantly surprised to see my girls make a nice second-half comeback. Jess Adair had a really good game, and for a while, was like the only GW player who could put the ball in the basket. I thought Sarah-Jo Lawrence played really well as well, but she had a lot of shots (and layups) go in and out of the basket. All in all I"m pleased with GW's effort. I thought they played hard and their defense was strong. Still Rutgers just has more offensive weapons than GW does, even if C Viv. doesn't always utilize them.

I hope Kimberly Beck is OK. Aside from her chin, the announcers mentioned something about her ribs. Hopefully, they're just sore and Kia didn't crush them when she fell on her. Smile

Congrats again to BeKnighted and all the other Rutgers fans on here. Looking forward to a good game vs. UConn.

What you guys don't get this that Rutgers has been here before (last Year) and this UCONN team hasn't. Rutgers knows UCONN very well. I won't be at all shocked if UCONN does down.

Anyone remember last year at the same Area, Rutgers beat the #1 seed Duke?

Well some of you act like you don't.

And Rutger's is the ONLY team to beat UCONN this year. Sure UCONN beat RU by 20 a few weeks later...But that is why they play the games...anything can happen.
