If the Scarlet Knights claim their second win this season against George Washington, what most likely awaits them is a third meeting with top-seeded Connecticut. Rutgers gave the Huskies their only loss of the season Feb. 5 before UConn claimed the regular-season finale.

But postseason rematches seemingly are unavoidable for Rutgers, which already has played 10 of the 15 other teams that reached the regional semifinals and went 7-5 against them.

Ugh, RU came out flat and sleepwalking...where's the defensive intensity? Come on, it's like they just had lunch...

Now that's more like it. CVS probably set the record straight during that timeout. Good sub, too.

Carson might not have all the tools, but her fire is undeniable and today she wants this game.

Lawrence has been the lone bright spot for GW in this game. She's skilled.

She's also quite physically gifted it appears as well. She has some good speed and strength - a combination that no other player on GW possesses.

Kim Beck is proving herself as a role player. It's weird to think of her as a conference player of the year. I really am interested to see if she can grab some meaningful minutes in the WNBA this season.

GW's defense has been good.

She's got a body for the WNBA. I think McKeown's right about her. She has a chance to make a roster granted she can knock down some shots at the pre-draft camp (I'm assuming she'll get an invite).

It also doesn't hurt that her cousin is former Olympian Nikki McCray. Lawrence should get a chance somewhere.

Her confidence is shot. 3-21 from the field thus far is pretty brutal. She played two decent floor games prior to this game, but now she's having a hard time dealing with Rutgers' athleticism. A-10 quickness isn't Big East quickness. A-10 size isn't Big East size.

To be fair, though, Rutgers' guards are built like high school linebackers. They are tough. Even the highly thought of UConn guards will struggle with those kids.

As for Beck's WNBA future, who knows. She could regain form at the pre-draft event, or she might not. Hard to say.

It only gets tougher from here. The kids she's facing now (Prince and Ajavon) are about the same size and build as a typical WNBA guard--just two (Prince) or three (Ajavon) inches shorter. Look at Nikki Blue, for example. She's about 5-6 or 5-7, but she's 165 pounds! Shocked Beck is maybe 5-7, 125.

ODU and GW would have both had better chances to win if they'd swapped opponents. ODU is better suited to face the bruising Rutgers style while Beck and company would fare better against UConn's backcourt speed.

That having been said, GW isn't dead yet. The Scarlets can go into offensive funks in a way other elite teams don't.

I agree completely with that. Adair, like Chauntinise Wright of Louisville, could've taken up a lot of space inside. Whomever would guard Parrish would have to float out to the perimeter (outside her comfort zone). UConn's guards (Montgomery, Swanier, Dixon) would still have an advantage, but they're all slight like Beck--not built like tanks (Ajavon and Prince).

As for ODU, they like to run and can go 10 deep. Rutgers would have a hard time containing that kind of attack.

Having said that, both mid-majors would still lose by double digits.

Nah. It's over.

Up until now I thought GW had no chance in hell to beat Rutgers, but they just might. Although I don't think either team is going to beat UConn.

It's far from over. RU can't win games relying so heavily on the outside shot because it will inevitably stop falling at some point. They need to get Kia involved in this game.

Apparently intentionally, at that.

Is it just me or does Ajavon practically ignore Prince when she could be reversing the ball?

Didn't look intentional to me, she's a big girl and not used to getting down like that. But it must've hurt.

Seeing Carson's array of moves today (baseline jumper, dribble penetration, outside shot) whoever said that she and Battle are one and the same is crazy.
I wouldn't be crushed if we take her as I think her offensive game will flourish in the pros.

Could be the case, but I don't think Ajavon has the greatest vision--nor can she manage the clock well. Then again, maybe she does see her but wants to be the hero.

As for Kia crushing Kimberly Beck, I agree that it wasn't intentional (based on three replays). But it looked intentional at first glance.

Great job by the refs not to call that weak ass flop a charge!

You gotta love guards who follow their shots like Prince. This is dangerously close for RU.

That's about the only call Rutgers hasn't gotten since the game got close again.
