“We’re so young, people don’t expect a lot from us,” said junior Christina Wirth, part of a youthful Vanderbilt roster that features just one senior. “We expect a lot from ourselves, but it’s just a different feeling because we are so young.”

Similar to Maryland, last year was supposed to be the Commodores run deep into the tournament only to fall in a second-round stunner. Vandy was filled with a senior-laden roster that was part of coach Melanie Balcomb’s first recruiting class when she arrived at the school.

I don't agree re us having no idea that Brenda Frese had twins just 5 weeks ago.
If not for the fact that the announcers mention it at least 5 times a game, just freaking LOOK at her. Laughing

I feel like Vandy needs to run more diagonal cuts on the inside and try to get some layups. Looks like there's plenty of space.

You know it's tournament time when Stacey is declaring her love for all things Toliver. Laughing
This one is boring because the Terps have just a big advantage inside and Harper isn't even helping that much. Langhorne is dominating and yes Stacey, Toliver is indeed playing more controlled and smart.

It would have been nice had Stacey ever indicated previously that Toliver had room to improve in terms of her decision making and control.

And I guess it's time to reverberate the PG college stories now that they appear to finally be paying off to some degree.

Even with Tolliver's sometimes out of control play, Maryland's physical talent is incredible. It should be a great regional final against Stanford (yes, I expect them to beat Pittsburgh), but I think the Terps have more ways to get the big play or two they'll need in crunch time to win that game.

I'm rooting for Stanford though.

It's not that bad, IMO. Maryland played better than they have since late January. I think the location kills the atmosphere a bit.

What a friggin' snoozefest...

In the first half, everytime Liz Sheerwood got the ball in the paint, it looked like the Maryland players couldn't get out of the way quick enough Laughing

In addition to our usual offensive explosiveness, tonight we played real defense, Marah Strickland came alive again, Kristi only had two turnovers, and there was a good-looking sea of red in the stands.

Not a snoozefest for me. Smile

LOL! If you aren't a Maryland fan, I can certainly understand why you might doze off. Terps led from start to finish. Vandy never threatened. Great for the Terps (and their fans Very Happy ), but not great entertainment like our first and second round games. terps dominated, this one wasn't competitive. Very Happy Very Happy

After the first two games, the team was due for an extended margin of victory.

Special shout to Marah, who returned from her hiatus.

they played very tight at Comcast. the pressure of last year's early exit really took its toll. if you could have seen Under the Shell this morning, you'd have seen how they literally danced afterwards about getting "out of College Park".

I didn't really think those first 2 rounds were indicative of the how talented this team is.

Good god Maryland is talented. Scoring at will everywhere, among other things.

And Marissa Coleman is hot. Shocked
