Okay, we know that Tennessee and Connecticut are the two best teams in WCBB. We know that you'd like nothing more than to see them play for the national championship in Tampa. You've made your point. Now, could you PLEASE switch us from their games when they're clobbering Sisters of the Poor by 35+ points? Rolling Eyes

Geez.

Stop showing the Sisters of the Poor's dejected faces. It's depressing. ~_~

Yeah, I was really enjoying watching the Candace Parker Show while there was actual basketball going on elsewhere. On the other hand, I expected it. That's what the channel surfboard is for.

I'm a UT fan so I enjoyed watching them play but I do kinda agree. I would have liked to have seen the Temple vs ASU game. It was still nice to see my team play tho. Laughing

Yeah, I was pissed too. "Whip-around" coverage is only decent when the powers that be do a good job of choosing a competitive game to broadcast. UConn & Tenn 16-1 blowouts do NOT qualify. It's just insulting to the fans to think we'd rather watch that than a real contest just because we've heard a lot about Tennessee.

Well I can't speak for the uconn game, but Oral Roberts was still within 11 or so points of Tennessee into the second half. The first half of that game was pretty interesting. Now, once it got to 20, I agree they should've switched.

y'all know you can watch like six live wcbb games at a time plus like 48 hours worth of replays on the web on espn 360 (free if your ISP participates)?

Like it or not more people would prefer to watch Uconn/Tenn then any other team.

Is it good for the casual fan observing, no...but the majority of Audience ESPN already has wants to see Tenn and Uconn.

Bullshit. Most people don't want to watch UConn or Tennessee beat up on some poor team by 40 points regardless of how "good" UConn or Tennessee may be.

The Tennessee game was more interesting than either the UConn or Carolina games, both of which I had to endure at rather more length than I would have preferred. What was funny was how little the national feed got of the Maryland game, which actually was tight for a long time, and certainly in doubt longer than any of the other three #1 seeds.

Well yeah..I'd certainly not argue against that.

Oh yeah, how many Uconn fans vs. all the other teams fans do you think were watching those games? Same with Tennessee? And I'll take it a step further..I'm sure more casual observers would flip the tv on to see Candace Parker vs. Random Teams having a close game.

As I said, it's not good for Women's basketball, but it's the truth.

Bingo! That's what most Huskies and Lady Vols fans don't realize. It isn't about their respective teams so much as it's about the match-up between the two teams. Right now, casual fans could care less about Candace Parker or Maya Moore. They just want to see the supposedly two best teams square off in Tampa. Very few people outside of those fan bases give a damn about UConn/Cornell or Tennessee/Oral Roberts.

That's very true.
But very few people care about any other teams period. There are more people who want to see Tenn and Uconn vs. those who want to see anyone else playing at that time.

I saw the ASU/Temple matchup and loved it because it was a good game.(Duke here we come)
I turned the channel on the Tenn/UCONN games...we all know the outcome before tipoff! Confused

Sorry merc, but I disagree with this. And I'm sure that the fans of these "other teams" would disagree as well. Regular season, maybe. But this is the NCAA tourney. There's the 'win or go home' appeal that I think has more fans of more teams interested. I would bet that most people outside the UConn/Tenn fanbases would MUCH rather see a tight or at least highly competitive game than to watch UConn and Tennessee run layup drills and get ready for the second round.

Hell I am a UConn fan and even I was only half watching.

Bingo! I would've rather have watched the entire ASU/Temple game (since it was tight throughout) as opposed to seeing Tennessee play cat-and-mouse with Oral Roberts all night. The Temple/ASU game is probably one of the few Sunday night games that didn't end in a blowout, so it made no sense that most folks only got to see the last two minutes of the game.

That's not to say that I didn't enjoy watching the ORU girls battle. They played hard until the final buzzer, and you have to commend a team for continuing to fight. However, it was obvious that the were over-matched from the get-go--and even more so when their leader blew out her knee, which is why ESPN should have switched us to another game.

You really think so? I don't, but I guess we'll agree to disagree. Very Happy

Not me; I would have preferred to watch all of the Temple game. The Vols and UConn are only fun to watch if they have some real competition, and that is rare.

I don't know how I feel about that now. I remember talking with a guy friend before the series was canceled and he alluded to the point that Tennessee and Uconn must be the only teams in women's basketball worth anything with the amount of attention personalities within our own sport pay to just that single rivalry.

Didn't viewership increase by like 26% this season even without the rivalry?

I don't know, perhaps the media shoving UT/UC down everyone's throat as the game to watch the only game of real significance in this sport has hindered the progression of other rivalries to develop and other rivalries being showcased. I mean, imo the Rutgers/Uconn rivalry is just as interesting if not more so and many more people recognize C.Viv and the team now because of the whole Imus deal.

Like I said, I don't know how I feel about it now. I know I was surprised initially to read that viewership had actually increased. Now, if it continues to do so, then it could be a good thing, although I guess we'll never know if that was a direct result of the UT/UC regular series cancellation or not.

Why do I have PU-UT on ESPN2 and ESPNU? Could I at least get one of the other games on one of those stations???

Especially since Candy P and company are already up double digits and the Boilers clearly have no way to match up with her.

I see they went to ASU-Duke on ESPNU at least. I'd still rather see the UL-KSU or UVA-ODU game over the PU-UT game but I guess it's not meant to be. I know - all the more reason to get Full Court next year...
