We might have been there. Walker was getting cramps for the last 8 minutes and guzzling water like she was in a desert. Dev was on an -inhaler- for the last 10 minutes or so as well.

If Rama, our only back up post, were available, very likely that our posts wouldn't have to play so tentative to not pick up fouls and we'd have been able to give them some rest. Confused

Who are the refs in Rutgers-Iowa State?

Kantner and a couple of people who didn't immediately ring a bell when I saw their names.

Is it me or are they making it somewhat easy for her with the fouls?

They can't stop her and the double-team/help defense is a step too slow. Oh, and they're passing her the ball for a change. Wink

A very un-Rutgers like first half - lots of scoring and only so-so defense.

39-31 at the half.

Ezell's having a great game for ISU, but she's more or less the only offense. 4 ISU players have 2 fouls and one has 3.

The double team/help also has crazy-wild hands.

It is nice to see her actually get to touch the ball as a result of more than a rebound.

I don't mind them. They're partisan, but that's okay. (What's not okay is a #2 playing on the #7's court, but that's not their fault.)

Kia with 23 - new season high.

Solid win by Rutgers. Even though this is hardly the Iowa State of the late 90s and the beginning of this decade, beating them in their backyard was not going to be an easy task.

On to face GW. Game will probably be in the 50s.

Last time, at GW: RU 67 GWU 42. I think GWU is playing better now, but you also should keep in mind that RU has averaged 77 in the first 2 rounds.

Yes, GW did a great job and was clutch at the end. Those last 12 seconds were a disaster for Cal, but as C. Vivian alway say, "Don't put the games in the ref's hands."

I think Joanne lost her composure a bit and needed to have AGL bring the ball up to midcourt before they called a time out. They gave them two chances to win and were not set in their defense the second time.

But GW had a great game plan, essentially, the one that Stanford played. Hog the paint and let everyone else shoot. I mean, there was no room to dribble drive in the lane because it always had 4 GW players. Cal was not patient on offense in working the ball around and rotating GW's defense to get some looks. Needless to say, GW was tough and clutch in the end. Good luck to them vs. Rutgers.

Cal, you've got a long time to sit and mull on this. You know what you need to do.

They also haven't faced the post game that GW brings. They've been doing well because Kia has been scoring. It should be a much more even match-up.

Well, last time, Vaughn and Junaid combined for 20 points and 20 rebounds, while the Adairs combined for 9 and 13.

I saw that game but I do recall that GW is playing better than back then and Rutgers is a lot thinner in their bench. Needless to say, if Rutgers keeps it close, GW has a chance.

I think it will be closer, too (and I hope with the same outcome), and I agree that GW is playing better now. However, I was at the game and can say, without any question, that the footwork and other fundamentals we've been seeing from Vaughn and Junaid the last two games are much improved, too.
